European blacklist has become effective
This week, European legislators will come together to decide about the definitive blacklist of airlines that will be banned from the European airspace. The list should then become effective by the end of this month.
The blacklist will detail the identity of airlines that will be banned from European Airspace. It will be published on the internet and in the EU's official record.
A senior source in the EC: “There will be a real right to defence for airlines. They can be represented by a lawyer and can also request to be assisted by the national aviation authorities of the country where they are certificated.”

I am curious to see what will happen with Silverback.
This line:
They can be represented by a lawyer and can also request to be assisted by the national aviation authorities of the country where they are certificated
raises some questions:

raises some questions:
- a lawyer from Ruanda?
certification?
a ruandan aviation authority?
@ Regi
Actually, they can choose every lawyer and even in Ruanda someone will be - at least on the paper - be responsible for civil aviation safety.
Anyway, I am gflad that it took lees than a year to copy & paste all the national blacklists into one document. I know kids in Kindergarten who could do that in approx.. 10 minutes (and this includes the consumption of half a liter of ice cream :frusty: ).

the list is known partially already. The ban is partial.
And yes, Hewa Bora is on it, limiting its activities partially. Same for Biman and Air Koryo, the North-Korea Airline.
The bet is open: is Silverback fully blacklisted or just partially?

Here is the blacklist

Biman is not on the blacklist, you are confusing Biman with another airline: Air Bangladesh; which is only allowed to operate a B747 to Europe.regi wrote:And yes, Hewa Bora is on it, limiting its activities partially. Same for Biman and Air Koryo, the North-Korea Airline.

Hewa Bora is the only Congolese airline allowed to fly, but its L1011 is banned! How will they fly to Europe?
And, not surprisingly, Silverback is on the blacklist!
As tolipanebas said, if I were SN, I would not fly neither to Kinshasa, nor to Kigali (where, by the way, flights have not yet resumed!).

in other words, the specified L1011 is the only one allowed. well, that is how i understand it...4. Hewa Bora Airways is only allowed to use the specific aircraft mentioned for its current operations within the
European Community.
please also read this document about the blacklist:

This morning I read the article about the blacklist in "La Libre Belgique" They seemed to interpret it as follows for Hewa Bora:sn26567 wrote:You might be right, but the text is not very clear...
Hewa Bora Airways is not banned, only specific aircrafts of the company are banned to fly into the EC. LLB also interpreted that the L-1011 would be banned....
I see it the other way around when I look at the file released on the net: The TriStar is allowed to continue to fly weekly to BRU, but any other HBA aircraft are banned from the EC, and 9Q-CHC is only allowed to deserve existing EC routes i.e. BRU
Oh and they made a mistake in the pdf, they wrote L-101 instead of L-1011
