Why?Emirates wrote:Just a shame about the 60 odd euro in taxes that certain airports charge for using their facilities.
First of all most airports have to forward a substantial part of this amount to their respective government - so even if they collect it, they do not charge it for their services.
Second - a flight of €10 will never even cover the costs, no question of earning money from this pax. Would you be happy if an airport decides to charge only 5€ per pax for the first 100.000 pax each year? I bet not...

The price of 10 euros means exactly nothing, if taxes and surcharges are not included.airbuske wrote:Iberia will launch 10 € tickets to compete with LCC's

For instance, on BRU-MAD, Virgin Express prices do not include :
- departure tax of 21,36 euros
- extended security tax of 4 euros
- a fuel surcharge of 10 euros
- an administrative charge of 2,75 euros
total : 38,11 more than the ticket "price"
(Strangely enough, the departure tax at MAD is only 5,61 euros, the other surcharges remaining the same);
It is high time the airlines were forced to advertize only the full, total and precise price of the tickets - not a partial price which they mention just to abuse the unknowing traveller. The consumer associations are demanding it, and they are right !

Actually this is not strange as departure taxes always vary from airport to airport. Spain is indeed one of the cheapest countries with regards to passenger taxes but rather expensive in aircraft and pax handling!airbuske wrote: (Strangely enough, the departure tax at MAD is only 5,61 euros, the other surcharges remaining the same);

I'd love to pay 5 euro instead of 60 in airport tax!n5528p wrote:Why?Emirates wrote:Just a shame about the 60 odd euro in taxes that certain airports charge for using their facilities.

Emirates
I'm an Iberia Plus member and if I book a flight to Madrid with my miles I have to pay 28,05 taxes + 6 € Cargos de utilización.
If I book as a non Iberia Plus member I have to pay 56,05 € taxes + 20 € Cargos Emisión
Why is there a difference in taxes between a member an non-member ?
