Charleroi-Pescara from 12 May ?
I see in "Latest news" that the line PES-CRL-PES will be flown by "Club Air" from may 12th.
Nothing about it, until now, on the site of Club Air, and not much more on the one of Pescara Airport.
Somebody knows more about it ?
Last years, that line was flown by BAe 146 or B737 of Axis Airways, on behalf of Air Service plus, of Pescara.
Many announcements about new flights and operators this summer (e.g. Aer Arann at Liège) but not much is yet definite ...

It seem that there is a market for Pescara.
In the past SNBA flew also to Pescara.
My uncle is working for SNBA
and told me that the flight he did were always full.
Maybe low yield ?
Last year Air Service plus and this year Air On.

If you consider that, mid last century, the region Abruzzo (and mid Apulia btw) were respectable contributors to the Belgian-Italian immigration treaty, it might explain something.airbuske wrote:It seem that there is a market for Pescara.

OnAir will operate two flights a week (monday and thursday) between Pescara and Charleroi, from may 12 to september 19, 2006.
Probably with Bae 146 ? It's not mentioned on the site.
They also fly from Pescara to Paris, Split and Timisoaroa.

There is still a large number of first generation Italian immigrates living around Charleroi and Mons (and also second and third generation) who like to go to Italy on holiday or for family happenings.
The same at Liège, which has an easy access to Charleroi with the "Autoroute de Wallonie".
Besides, Charleroi is considerably less expensive, taxwise, than Brussels.

No, I'm sure there are more people with Italian roots in/around Charleroi then in/around Brussels.airbuske wrote:Why din't they choose for BRU ?
They are flying from Pescara to CDG but for Belgium
they choose CRL.
Isn't there a bigger market at BRU ?
(Italian Eurocrats probably have to fly AZ)
Isn't Charlerloi's second name not Palermo-aan-de-Samber?

Yes: the Borinage area counts many people of Italian origin and many of these are from the Pescara area, there's a good few of them where I work, and they often tell me they'll visit their relatives "at home" during holidays. So I do think the route has good potential.LX-LGX wrote:No, I'm sure there are more people with Italian roots in/around Charleroi then in/around Brussels.airbuske wrote:Why din't they choose for BRU ?

[[ off - topic ]]
No: it is Liège that is called Palermo à la Meuse - but that has more to do with the connections of certain inhabitants than with their number. Remember the murder of that alcoholic politician what's his name again...? Charleroi has its own style of dirty politics, much more pragmatical, à la Belge, so to speak...
[[ yet offer-topic ]] Did you know that, of all people of foreign nationality living in Belgium, the Italians are most numerous?
