Brucargo: new destinations, cargo airlines, news

Post by Atlantis »

I would start this new topic around all cargo operations at BRU instead of separated topics.

 And Brucargo has a new destination: London Stansted. This destination will be served by Asiana coming from Stansted to Brussels on Sunday. They will start on 26 February 2006.

With this new destination, the total number comes to 34 for BRU.

 From September 2006 the second part of the Diabolo-project will start with the train connection from Antwerp, Mechelen to the airport. In this second project Brucargo will receive their first cargo train station. A train station for passengers at Brucargo is not in the project but BIAC signed an agreement with "De Lijn" so that every employee, visitor, pax can use for free the bus between Brucargo and the airport. The free use of the bus to the train station of Zaventem is only for BIAC staff and DHL.

This seems like 2 times saying the opposite. Is it for everyone or only staff?

The first sentence (the free use for everyone) is from the future railwaystation at Brucargo (I guess...).

BIAC and DHL-staff have a free shuttle to the railwaystation of Zaventem-city.

Correct me if I'm wrong

What I'm saying is correct. The employees at Brucargo, visitors and pax can use the bus for free between Brucargo and the airport. Or better saying they can use the bus to every bus stop on that traject. F.e. I can take the bus at the Post/TNT site at Brucargo and I want to go to the bus stop at the cleaning at hangar 40, that's now possible.
BIAC staff and DHL can use for free the bus to the railwaystation of Zaventem. That second one is not new, it excised some time.

Hope this is clear now.

After Air Canada, ops World, served Toronto with BRU they connect BRU also with Delhi. The flight leave BRU at 9.05H on Sundays.

The connecting with Delhi is not new, but AC is a new player to Delhi and gives some competition on this route.

In my Sabena times, Sabena staff had a free walk from Zaventem city station to the airport... :o

Chengdu Airport at China is the next new cargo destination at Bru.

After London Stansted, Chengdu is the second new destination in two weeks for Brucargo. Korean Air Cargo will be the operator with a B747-400 and this twice a week on Tuesday and Friday.

The first flight will be on 08 February. Korean will fly to and from Chengdu.

Really great news for Brucargo. Cargo will increase very well this year.

Just wondering, but are these flights by AC and Korean extra flights, or are they just switching destinations around (i.e. replacing flights to other destinations)? Because if they're just replacing other flights, it's not going to do much to increase cargo volume or movements at BRU.

Chengdu is a new destination, no switching destinations by Korean Air.

The flights of AC, operated by World, is an increasing to Delhi and the Toronto destination is a new one.

So you have two new destinations and one increasing on Delhi. It's normal that we can speak about increasing of volume for Brucargo.

Meanwhile i've taken a look at the cargo schedules at the BRU website. Chengdu is indeed a new destination, but they are NOT new flights: it's just a tag-on to the existing Delhi flights. So no additional KE 747 flights to BRU.

I never said this is a new KE flight to BRU. I have said that Chengdu is a new destination operated by KE.

There is no single destination to and from BRU with cargo. Every destination is connected with an other one. But don't forget that those cargo flights aren't full. It's like pax flights, 60 or 70 load factor. For cargo just the same. It means cargo planes to BRU are more loaded in the future.

Adding Chengdu means more cargo to and from BRU. By the way it's a very good choice to add a Chinese destination to the Belgian cargo market.

Atlantis,

You've only mentioned an extra BRU-CMB flight, but where does the 747 come from to fly this route? Has SQ dropped a frequency to have an extra flight to CMB, in favor of ...?
Or is CMB maybe just another stop on the route they fly? If that's the case, you can't really talk about increased flights.

well actually its a minority that has problems with the noise, but because they make the most noise (ironic not?) you only hear about them in the media and you would believe that everybody there is against the airport, which is not true!

What do you mean by that?? At this moment no new cargo airlines are coming to BRU. Also in the earlier posts no mentioning about new cargo's.

The only thing is a new destination like London Stansted and some increasing on some destinations.

Bad news here: http://www.luchtvaartnieuws.nl/news/?ID=12543 (Dutch only)

It basicly says that the Brussels Institute for Environmental Control is giving administrative fines to every airline that goes over the sound limits. It was the Brussels Government that ordered them to do so. Senator Schouppe says that this is against the dela that was made with the Brussels government.

Most importantly, the article states that "2 large cargo airlines" already stopped their flights to Brussels because of these fines.

Who are the 2 cargo airlines, and will they still come back if this gets solved?

Again a new slap in the face for BRU...

Pieter

This is a topic that I already started. It's not because I started it but otherwise we have this discussion in two different topics. I started that because it's more specific then this topic about all the news of Brucargo.
