Aircraft in trouble 04.01.06 13.55 z?
Hi guys,
Do you know if any plane had some troubles today in Brussels?
Here in Zwijnaarde (ghent) it was nearly about 500-1000ft AGL and i saw some black smoke out of his engine...
Somebody knows something??

Are you talking about an airliner? 500-1000 ft is still very low, very uncommon for a place like Ghent. That's between 150 and 300 meters. If it was an airliner it really should have drawn attention from all people on the ground.
Nothing in the news though, nothing on the "news alert" services either...

Sebas

Yeah i know its very low, i'm flying myself with Piper 28A so that about a circuit altitude for an airport, it think it was not a commercial but a cargo because i didn' t see a name on the plane, my collegues have seen it as well...

I know that today the CO61 BRU-EWR returned to BRU
shortly after departure.
The plane had some engine troubles.
I don't know if the plane had already taken off, but
it could be the plane you saw.
The plane left safely to EWR around 11u35
greets
i don't think it was that one because it was around 14.55 local time

@ Concordia,
Please be so polite to explain me the "big" differance between "airline" and "airliner".

@BMO
I guess that you are asking me, Concordino, when you "@Concordia" ? So, with pleasure, I will try to explain.
An "airline" is the entity which flies "airliners". An example of an airline is SN Brussels Airlines or British Airways etc. Airliners are the aircraft themselves ( note aircraft can be either singular or plural - that lovely English language, eh!) and can be anything from a Cessna to an Airbus 380 in size so long as it is in airline service. It is one of those funny things in language - all airliners are aircraft but not all aircraft are airliners!!!!

btw please use your spell checker - "differEnce"

What a simplistic answer ! So next time a plane flies too high before landing can we then conclude that the plane had too much power?fokker_f27 wrote:Maybe the aircraft was taking off, but ran out of power?
Next time don't bother replying! Wasn't worth it...
What about: the pilot had never seen Zwijnaarde so decided to fly lower to have a good overview of the place?
