window size B737 vs. A320

Post by lastrow »

hi,

just had two flights on an Airbus A320 (TP) and then a Boeing 737-400 (OA) : I wondered if the windows on the -400 are significantly larger than those found in the Airbus. are there any numbers about this?

-lr.

Did they make the windows smaller to save weight because the plane became too heavy? :-P

The 737 has bigger windows without question but the A320 is more comfortable in general thanks to it being wider. I know which I prefer.

Yup it's a lot wider!!! All of 6 inches!!!!!!! Split that between 6 seats and an aisle I can just feel that extra room!!!! (It actually depends on what seat the airline selects to be used in the airplane.)

I do feel the difference (not later than today on a BA 757).

Well, if you are Easy jet you put that 6 inches into the Isle, and half your cleaning and embarking/disembarking. Saves money.

Given that quite a lot of flights are not that long, I often find the crowdedness during disembarking the worst part of the journey. Or maybe I just got used to rub against my neighbors shoulder all the time.

I'm very slim so seat size is never any bother for me. :D

But the 737 windows are placed lower, which compels you to lean in order to see correctly.

Ah yes, I always have to perform some yoga techniques to see the horizon in Transavia's cattle class 737s. KLM's 737s are better in this respect, more legroom, enough space to either lean forward or slide down the seat to get a better view.
