General strike in Belgium Friday 28 Oct

Post by bxleu »

Hi there,

Would anyone know whether there are any actions planned at BRU airport this Friday? I wouldn't like to miss my flight just because of the general strike...

Thanks!

Normaly the people at the airport don't strike. But it's possible they don't announce the strike at the airport and still strike that day.

Are these strikes going to be a regular thing in Belgium? I have a visit in a few weeks and I hope it won't be affected by anything like this
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.

If you're reaction like this because you didn't have an answer on your question yet (9 minutes after asking your question  ), then I hope you get stuck in the middle of a strike ....

how can we answer your bloody question? Do you think we know, just because we live here?
Next time you expect an answer ask an intelligent question first, no offence...

To Comet, the world is not turning around you, next time try to listen to the radio or read newspapers to be aware of what's going on in this country.
I personnaly won't like to be stuck for hours because of this strike but just try to inform you and think a little bit more at your stupid question!
If there is a so big strike on friday, maybe there is a reason , don't you think...
The most funny is that they are maybe defending the future of your career...

Silly people don't U think people have the right to know whether there is a strike or not? Even more if they are foreign people visiting Belgium! Ever wondered about the economic growth of all carabean countries??: Tourism

So fair enough maybe Comet was a bit too pushy with her questions but wouldn't U start to be scared if you were going on holliday in a few weeks time say in Mexico? U would also want to know about the state of the beaches there no?

Anyway back to the question well nothing has been said yet Comet! But I would expect another strike since the government doesn't seem to back off! Not forgetting the fact that we in Belgium strike for a Yes or a No!

@ pit600f

It is extremely unlikely that Comet will be affected by Friday's strike as she will be safely in northern England which is yet to become part of Belgium.

Louise, perhaps you should change your routing via Amsterdam and take the train into Belgium - just in case. Of course then you would not have the pleasure of SNBA but at least you willarrive even if there is another strike.

Unlike you I am directly affected as I am on a bmi flight to Heathrow at 7.20 Friday morning - c'est la vie!!!
