Why doesn't El Al repaint its 742s and some of its 757s in new colors?

Well they don't waste money and directly paint all their fleet. They probably wait until an aircraft has to do its D check and has to be painted anyway..

And El Al wants also planes that look anonymous, for obvious safety reasons.

How do they make their planes anonymous? Do they have all-white liveries?

Yes they have some planes flying with an all white livery. Or at least they had them.

Yes, some cargo planes are anonymous.I dont think it is for security reasons since all El Al pax planes and some cargo planes wear "El Al" titles.

What I heard a while ago is that one of the reason is to be able to fly on saturdays as well.

When they fly on saturdays, they change their callsign. ELY becomes ICL (this goes for the freighters, do know about the pax flts). All the rest remains the same (flightplan, crew, a/c, policies......).

In fact saturday is not fully correct. This is when sabbat is effective (fridayevening sundown till saturdayevening sundown)
