I just watched the landing and I applaud the Captain for a PICTURE PERFECT emergency landing. I hope that they are able to safely evacuate everyone and learn how this malfunction happened.

I saw it too, nice as it was on the TV in our crew room last night and all the pilots were watching. Nice landing indeed and incredible that the nose gear didn't collapse.

A friend of mine worked at Goodrich on the landing gear for many of today's planes (I guess practically all are made by Goodrich). He showed us how much engineering when into them and how they tested them. Seeing how this all works out in real life makes me feel glad that they spend that much time testing them.[/url]

Great job, good landing, must have been scary for the pax but this way they can see that flying is the safest way for transport. Even in an emergency they are protected

According to this report this is the third occurance of landing gear failure on this type, it may lead to an AD from the FAA.
