Landing of MD-11F Saudi Cargo

Post by funnelweb »

Hello everybody,

What happened yesterday, Saturday August 13 at 10:24am, when a Saudi Cargo was landing on 25R ? Several seconds before touch down it climbed again in the sky turning right. In the meantime, a DHL cargo took off in front of that MD-11F ! Saudi Cargo landed normally 10 minutes later, at 10:34am. I am really anxious to know if this is a "near miss" or what ???

Thanks in advance for any reliable information.

Mistake by the tower perhaps or the DHL that lined up on the runway but couldn't take-off because of 'bird-alert'?

I've seen the same situation last year, a DHL A300 was about to land on 25R, a TUI 737 was already lined up on the runway but couldn't start the take-off because the bird control was still busy to chase the birds away. The DHL aborted the landing on the very last moment (turned away above brucargo) and landed 10 minutes later.

Sounds indeed as a Go-around. Nothing exceptional but quite impressive, especially with larger a/c such as md11 or 747

Nothing serious happened. Just an other airplane on the runway that didn't start there take off.

DHL was OO-DLN

This thing happens all the time, for one reason or another.
