How Did You Choose Your Nicknames?

Post by Comet »

Someone asked me yesterday why I chose the nickname I have, and I thought maybe it would make a reasonable topic. I know on "Airliner" this is a popular question on their General Discussion section.

My nickname is inspired by the De Havilland Comet airliner, the world's first passenger jet. I got interested in the type after seeing a programme about them called "Wings Over The World" (dubbed into Icelandic!) and I bought several books and videos about the Comet.

Another name I considered for the forum was VLM Flyer, but I decided to stick with the one I use regularly.

So how did everyone else choose their log-in names?

Hi all,

My Nickname is BIVA which stand for Brussels International Virtual Airlines, normally the VA I started with some friends, but due of conditions, I'm not going further with that 'project'.

Can I change my nickname?

Regards,
Rutger

It looks like you just did change your name Rutger, it shows Airbus-fan now!

I'm glad I now know the meaning of "luchtzak", I wondered what it was in English.

Meerkat comes from a random name generated when I joined MSN. I dropped the first part and kept the last bit. Been using it for almost 3 years now so am quite used to it, but think I may turn into a meerkat if I'm not careful

Meerkat = small furry creature which lives on the African savannah.

Sabena 690: the last Sabena flight ever coming from Abidjan/Cotonou

No further explanations necessary I guess

For me, the 744 is still the most gracious a/c. It is a great a/c to dispatch and quite easy loadcontrol-wise.

Concorde is not a runner-up, just out of competion

For our English-speaking members, would you mind translating 'zweefteven' as well? (not sure Muisje will appreciate...)

I hate to think at what the site might have been if it had been created by Emmy: www.zweefteef.be :)
