Info about the Flemish coastal tram

Post by VC10 »

When we visit Belgium in September, one of the things we thought about was a trip on the tram which, according to some articles we have read, goes from one end of the coast to the other.

Does anybody have any further information on this please (the articles didnt give very much info) where does it start? Are you able to "hop on hop off"?

It sounds like a really nice way to spend a few hours, and we thought we'd give it a go.

Well you can just get on and off the tram as you like and depending on the time/place you can have a tram every 15 or 30 minutes. More info on www.delijn.be

I was a tram driver on this line between 1995 and 1998. Those were the days...

Yo,
The tram drives from De Panne to Knokke and back but this is not so interesting to do, it's just to move from city to city just like a bus but. You don't see much of the sea only from Mariakerke (Ostend) till Middelkerke and just between this to parts there's a museum of the 2nd world war and an replica of a fishers village.
In the summer there's a tram every 10 min and in the winter every 15 min.
This site gives you directly info about the tram http://www.dekusttram.be/pages2/home.html sorry the site is not in English.

Thanks Ciaran, we might give it a go anyway. Its just that it sounds an interesting way to get from A to B.

Thanks also Sab, (isn't your dad a tram driver?)

I think it sounds a fun day out. I like the Belgian coast and the seafood restaurants are just the best.
