As somebody that are working for the opposition I must say that South African Airways are still going strong(with a bit of help from the goverment) I have just visited their site and it was O.K

They fly daily to New York and Atlanta and 4 times a week to Washington

January is high-season in South-Africa ;)

Sorry I took so long to answer,I was on a short winter break looking for warmer weather up our east coast.January is high season between the states and South Africa The South African schools re-open about mid January after the summer break and then there is a small fall in passenger numbers travelling this route.
