waterbombers at the Paris Air Show??

Post by JohnA »

Reports have it that there will be demos from the DC-10 and the 747 waterbombers.

The question remains:

Will the Russians show with the IL-76 waterbomber, said to be most
spectacular in show
at Zeltweg?

Stay tuned for developments.

Meanwhile, the IL-76 waterbomber campaign continues: http://www.profindpages.com/test/Waterbomber.htm[/i]

For those who've read the preliminary
publication from Profind, changes have been
made and a new Google-searchable URL will
issue. When it does, I undertake to advise.

Thank you.

I think the first Dash-8-Q400 waterbomber "Sécurité Civile" (ex-SAS) will be there also.

I had a hand in it, yes.

I provided the basics and did the editing
but Profind did the piecing together and
1st draft, for which I thanked them .....
profusely.

Had I known there was a chance the IL-76
waterbomber was showing, I would have
put something together, I suppose, but that's
Profind's information and not mine.

We had seen the DC-10's intentions and the
747 came to our attention for this important
event just yesterday.

Who knows? Only The Shadow?

Lord I hope the weather is good, whatever
happens to this (potential) Battle of the Bigs

Have not heard about a 747 waterbomber, but the DC-10 waterbomber is certainly there :

Compare, if you will, a/c dimensions and advertised liquids loads.

See also methods of liquids delivery and look for liquids under pressure.

Think what challenges liquids under pressure present.

Of course, the IL-76 waterbomber performed at
the Paris Air Show sometime in the 90s.

Last news on the 747 seems as printed on their website
- 04 testing. Liquids loads from various altitudes were run.

Flight International reported the 747 was set for more testing;
even the possibility of acceptance for service in June, '05.
That timing seems to have slipped.

There is no public record of any 747 test carrying
appreciably more liquids than the IL-76 waterbomber.

Wither the touted 24,000 gallons?

The DC-10? Just a test. Somebody has to believe in this
aircraft. Somebody has to buy it/fly it. If it were
successful, somebody else would buy one/fly one....
and on it would go.

The IL-76 waterbomber has been in firefighting service
for ten (10) years.

Il-76 waterbomber promoters are grateful to Profind for
placing an article on commencement of the '05 Paris Air Show.
Especially interesting was the placement of the piece with a
photo of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

To his credit, Governor Schwarzenegger has

(a) committed California to climate change mitigation and

(b) expressed a willingness to try anything in the context
of a reporter's direct question on the Il-76 waterbomber.

Those two wires: climate change and fire suppression, need to be
hooked together.

Canada has done it: http://www.ipsnews.net/new_nota.asp?idnews=27778
The US Forest Service has been told to work on it: http://www.katu.com/news/story.asp?ID=76705

At the international level, the UN was ahead of it:

Thanks, Andries. Your photo says June 11. Was this a
practice run? I thought the show didn't start until the 12th?
If there were spectators, what was the reaction?

Pitch-up on the nose, eh? I wonder: From what altitude did
that drop occur?

At any rate, the campaign for the IL-76 waterbomber continues:

Best photos still from Zeltweg: http://www.checksix.de/html/body_solodemos.html
