I read a quoted article from the "Irish Examiner" in a recent release of A&C paper (N°1984-20MAY05) saying that the landing and nav fees are free for military flights, thanks to an Irish law. That's one of the main reasons the USAF uses Shannon Airport for their flights to Afghanistan and Iraq. The cost for the 5 last years represents currently €10 millions(€6 m for the last 2 years).
Q: Who pay for that?
A: The Irish tax payers, of course .
I failed to find the exact Irish Examiner quoted article but fund an other one dated from 15NOV04:
Taxpayers foot €6m bill for US military’s Shannon flights
Other articles are welcome also!

Seb.
