OST 09/05/05 Pictures (from ground and air) + flight report

Post by Andries »

Today we had a fun 'laboratory-assignment'.
We were going flying ... So we went to the airport with the entire class and 3 by 3 we got into a Cessna or Piper and took off for a 15-minute flight.

Offcourse I had my camera with me ... :P

Together with Buedts and Baeck, I was among the first 3 to go into the air . It was 9h15 and this was our ride ...

OO-NIK :
 http://members.airliners.be/displayimage.php?pos=-2122
 http://members.airliners.be/displayimage.php?pos=-2123

After getting some explanation from the pilot, the engine was started and we taxied to the runway. Meanwhile I took the opportunity of shooting the stored 4K-AZ25 and the 'terminal building' ...

 4K-AZ25 : http://members.airliners.be/displayimage.php?pos=-2129
 Terminal & Tower : http://members.airliners.be/displayimage.php?pos=-2127

As you can see on the pictures, the windshield wasn't really clean ... it was covered with splatered bugs ...

Once we got airborne, we made a sharp turn to the right and climbed to an altitude of 900 feet and established a IAS of about 120 kts. after that we followed the coastline.

Then the pilot asked me if I wanted to take over the controls ... I didn't hesitate

 http://members.airliners.be/displayimage.php?pos=-2131

We continued on untill we were near 'het Zeepreventorium' in De Haan and then we turned back towards EBOS. Once we were close to the airport again, the pilot took the controls again (and I could grab my camera again). As we were descending, we ligned up with the runway.

 http://members.airliners.be/displayimage.php?pos=-2126

We did howere stay above the glideslope. Once we then were over the runway, we made a slight nose-down descend ...

 http://members.airliners.be/displayimage.php?pos=-2125

Once landed, we taxied back to the General Aviation platform. After thanking the pilot for a very nice flight, we left the General Aviation Platform ... but I couldn't resist snapping 4K-AZ25 again ...

 http://members.airliners.be/displayimage.php?pos=-2124

After that it was up to the next ones to go flying while we enjoyed our drinks on the terrace of the Noordzee Vliegclub.

About an hour later, we heard that one of the Noordzee Helikopters was starting up his engines. Together with others from my class, I immediatly went to the fence. OO-NHV performed a rolling take-off. It rolled for about 100 meters and then go off the ground. After that I took the opportunity of shooting the the old Dakota ...

 http://members.airliners.be/displayimage.php?pos=-2120
 http://members.airliners.be/displayimage.php?pos=-2121

When all the students had gone flying (13u45), we thanked the people at Noordzee Vliegclub and went back to school ... Well, some did ... Others stayed 5 minutes longer to see the Egypt Air A300 take off. Me too offcourse.

Hello Andries,

Very nice report and pictures

Here's a picture of Andries flying in the Cessna 172, taken from the Noordzee vliegclub cafeteria. Andries is the one in front waving at the other classmembers :P .

I also enjoyed the flight very much today, really nice school laboratory :D

Excellent trip report and the great pictures! :P
What exactly was the 'laboratory-assignment'? "Go out to the airport and enjoy yourselves???
And what school do you attend, it seems to organize very nice school-trips. (I haven't had one for two years :?).

Well, thanks for sharing the report and pictures with us.

We are students at the Koninklijke Hogeschool Brugge Oostende (KHBO) and we follow Aeronautics. The reason for this flight is to make sure when you end your studies aeronautics, you have flown an aircraft ones :P . Also to see the things we learned at school how it is done in practice.

Hello

Andries! Nice pictures!!! Like them very much! Makes me thinking of last week , than I was flying too , RYR 738 :p:p.

Really nice. Also that controlling of that cessna by you makes me thinking of the one and only time I flew about a 200m with a 'glider' :p:p was very nice experience!!! :D

Very cool , you HAVE to do this flights!!! Would like that too.

And even more cool!!!!!!!
Conclusion : A terrific morning organised by the KHBO ! And this isn't all yet. This friday, we are going to Brussels to visit SNBA (in the morning) and EAT (in the afternoon).

JEEEEZES!!!! Really nice those school visits to BRU and airlines!!! Really awsome!!!! What makes it complete is that your school makes it possible to visit le Bourget , wile I was SO hardly hoping to reach it finally this year , after 5 long years of waiting....and now it doesn't go , ....am in full exams than!  Why do they do that ..... airshow in the end of the spring , what a stupid idea , what kind of people can make themselves free by than. REALLY STUPID in my opinion!!! They should do it in the SUMMER HOLIDAYS just like ALL OTHER airshows!!!! :insult: :dammit: :frown:

But who am I to choose that....

But I wouldn't if it was mine's to choose.

anyway have fun visiting BRU and at le Bourget! ;)

Best regards: Yannick ;)

Bruspotter,

There is one major point which your forget!! airshows which are done during the summer holidays with many flying displays by air forces etc.. are done to entertain the poeple. The Paris Airshow is a business event and the main purpose isn't to attract spotters!! Spotters are welcome on the last weekend of the fair which is already a nice gesture. But keep in mind that the main purpose of this show is for companies such as Boeing and Airbus to sign new contracts.

The spotters are not the center of this business ;)

That is correct Avro.

Most spotters don t really order a/c
but just try to get the free gadgets...

Well, at the beginning of the year they also told us it would be SNT and EAT, but eventually it turned out to be SNBA and EAT, don't know why it changed.

About it being the best time of the bachelor period, you could be right, althoug I am really looking forward to my 'Stage'. I am hoping to do it at Noordzee Helikopters (together with Tompie).

Just like Yannick I have been looking forward to LBG for years ... but my father always told me I had to go when I was working, so not untill I left school ... Looks like I will get there sooner anyway

Greetz,

Idd , purely like me. But I'll tel you one thing (another bad thing , it's only every TWO years , ellsworth i need to go to Farnborough.... ) But next time I WILL drive the car that brings me MYSELF , unless if i'm not at any kind of exams at high school (hopefully :D) than....

So lets see and wait. Anyway , still expect the 380 to visit BRU for a showdown (really hope so)

Best regards: Yannick ;)
