Takeoff or landing????
Simple question, which do you all prefer when in the airplane??? Same question for you spotters out there, which do you prefer to take pictures of??? Personally, I prefer (while in the airplane) takeoff. The roar of the engines, the thrust pushing you back into the seat, what a rush!!!! 8)

I voted for take-off, for the same reasons Knight255 provided, the engines whining, you can feel the power they produce when one is pushed into the seat and then the climb away from the runway. I love it.
Only one thing is better (and was unfortunately not a choice in the poll), and that is touch-down and the pilot decides to make a go-around.
I once had such an experience when a Martinair DC-10 landed at Corfu airport (my dad said that back then, in 1995, the runway was just long enough to accommodate the aircraft). But when we touched down the pilot applied full power to the engines and we rocketed of the runway again. (we did land at the second attempt).
Such a thing gives the pleasure of landing and the thrill of take-off in one time.....that's rocks the most.

I voted takeoff
When I'm your insinde tha airplane you really feel the power ! That's what I like. Landing (as a passenger) is just a bump and then some breaking ... I don't find that special.
When I go spotting I also prefer takeoff. Certainly when you can stand at the point of rotation, like in AMS ... http://www.airliners.net/open.file/816910/L/ When the nose goes up and the gear comes of the ground ... that's like a magical moment ! During spotting, I also like landing, because of the cloud of burned rubber you always get to see ...
But i still prefer takeoffs ... always have and always will ...

I choose take-off...
You hear the engine start-up after push back, than you feel the engines producing power when starting to taxi. And ofcourse take-off!
2 years ago when flying AA to O'Hare the pilots spooled up the engines quite long time and than released the brakes. At that moment you really feel how powerful those engines are!
Speeding up down the runway and start rotating. Maybe the best moment: when you feel that the plane is just airborne! I love that.
When it's cloudy it's also nice to break trough the clouds and see the sun.

It depends what airplane I am flying in. If I am in the Cessna 172, I like landing better because it is, as an-148 mentioned, challenging. However, if I am in a commercial jet (especially a 757
) I like taking off. I love the way a jet throws you back in your seat. There is really nothing that can compare to it. I always tell people that taking off in a jet is better than an orgasm and I still believe that

I didn't vote, as I like both just as much, depending on the direction I am flying in (west or east!) When flying from the UK I like both take off and landing, I managed to get some decent video footage through thge window of take off and also some final approach, so it is a good time in the flights for that.
When flying to the UK, I don't like take off or landing because it means I am that much nearer to coming back to this unspeakable hell hole of a town.
But generally I just enjoy flying because it is so relaxing and aircraft are so interesting.

Hey, I've got that feeling of relaxation too each time I fly.Comet wrote: I just enjoy flying because it is so relaxing
It seems like a good therapy to come to rest.
Except for the fear-of flying-people off course.
A guy that I know practices deep sea diving. He once told me: "When I put my head under water I come to rest."
I replied:" I come to rest when I am 30000 feet above the Earth 8) "
About the poll: I voted Take-off because of the sound of the engines, the accellaration and the beginning of a nice holiday.
When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return."

I picked landing, but it's really more about the last part of the approach, especially if the weather is not quite optimal and the plane is shaking around. You see the buildings and roads and everything through the window, and it looks like it's pretty close, and it gets closer and closer, and it all doesn't look like there is a place to land anywhere, and then finally the plane touches the ground, and starts to brake, and tries to go more or less straight over the runway. I find this to be a much more intense experience than take-off, which really stops being interesting when you're off the ground.
I, as a stewardess, I would vote take off, 'cause I really adore the increasing sound of the engines, the accelerating big bird and the magical feeling of just being airborne.
As a spotter, I would vote landing, 'cause I just love standing just underneath the incoming planes, and feel their power right above my head. At landings also the touchdown moment is great. When you see the wheels touch the runway, it's like a homecoming victory every single time.

Takeoff, for all the same expereinces as everybody mentioned above.
Most relaxing moment for me after I left a grey, rainy SPL, is breaking trough the clouds and see that beautiful sun and the blue sky. Recline your seat, put your head half in the window and feel that sun on your face while you nip on your glass, goodnight now
