Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Re: Replacement of Brussels Airlines' Boeing & Avro RJ fleet
Digging out this sleeping topic just to ask if anyone can confirm an A319/320 is on order as mentioned by Wikipedia.
Re: Replacement of Brussels Airlines' Boeing & Avro RJ fleet
Can I ask why SN keep an Avro on the fleet? If they keep it as back up they need some crew trained for this aircraft and they have to fly with it from time to time do not loose their qualification... where is the logic in here?

Re: Replacement of Brussels Airlines' Boeing & Avro RJ fleet
I don't know the logic but the arj85 oodjp is still sheduled in their services!
If you look for flights to bhx you will see this aircraft will be operating at least until, end may 2018.
Same qualifications for 85 and 100 series I suppose, would make sense...

On FR24, OO-DJP appears practically every day.
Re: Replacement of Brussels Airlines' Boeing & Avro RJ fleet
RJ85/RJ100 qualifications and currency are the same. The BAe146 is slightly different, it requires a differences course and to stay current on it. From a maintenance perspective, several different parts and assemblies, but not things you need to change everyday.
Perhaps they are using this aircraft while one of the RJ100's is in C-check.

Re: Replacement of Brussels Airlines' Boeing & Avro RJ fleet
Isn't SN supposed to announce a RJ100 fleet replacement in September according to some LH exec interview?
What's it going to be in your opinion?
What's left on the table?
-The MRJ and E2 are far away, relatively expensive but good aircraft
-The SSJ100 doesn't seem to offer a reliable production schedule but it's a cheap aircraft.
-The Chinese ARJ's are most certainly not even in their wildest dreams
-The Cseries are larger than the RJ100, heavier and expensive. But great cockpit
-The CRJ1000 seems to be a good trade-off with 1500kg per hour fuel burn and BBD could give a good price
-The Q400 could work out if they manage to build an operation around it.
-The ATR72 offers good pricing but not really suitable for the longer sectors operated by the RJ100.
-The A319/A320 are too large for most of their RJ100 operations, even though they are quite cheap to lease now.

Re: Replacement of Brussels Airlines' Boeing & Avro RJ fleet
LH's CFO said that SN is going to present them a tentative fleet replacement decision in the 3rd quarter (they didn't specify the replacement for which aircraft, but it seems a safe bet that this is about the Avro fleet). But I don't think we'll hear something about it in public really soon.Flanker2 wrote:Isn't SN supposed to announce a RJ100 fleet replacement in September according to some LH exec interview?

Although it's better to tailor the fleet to suit the needs i.s.o. the other way around, I believe the choice will be for one of the types currently (or foreseen) in use by some sister company (ies) in the LH group, in order to get the best financial conditions (even for a leasing deal if no outright purchase is considered).

Re: Replacement of Brussels Airlines' Boeing & Avro RJ fleet
anybody know if the decision on the RJ100 replacement is made? some of the above were talking 'bout 3rd quarter, but that's passed, so...?
Dutch wiki states 1 A333 is on order, the French says none, the English says 1 & 1 A320 and ze German also none.
So what's the deal on the future ones?

Boeing 737-400 formerly OO-VET now flies in Tajik Air colours under reg. EY-754, leased from ILFC:

Tajik Air operates 6 other Boeing aircraft (1 Boeing 737-300, 2 Boeing 737-400, 2 Boeing 737-500, and 2 Boeing 757-200).

That was LH's CFO saying SN would present a tentative fleet replacement plan to them in the 3rd quarter (according to the planning back then). I don't know if they did, but even if they did, that still wouldn't mean anything firm, that only means LH knows about the preferences of SN.Treeper wrote:anybody know if the decision on the RJ100 replacement is made? some of the above were talking 'bout 3rd quarter, but that's passed, so...?
Re: Replacement of Brussels Airlines' Boeing & Avro RJ fleet
i think the best choice is to invest in CRJ 700/900/1000 aircraft or similar (emb 170-175- 190-195)
Airbus 319/320 aircraft are too expensive and sometimes too big for their network.
They have to invest in cost and fuel efficient aircraft and try to offer a good point-to-point European network.
Especially as they face more and more competition with low cost carriers like Vueling, Easyjet , ...

Their last RJ85 (OO-DJP) has not appeared on FR24 for quite some time. Was it returned to lessor?

It is still in, or in the vicinity, of the hangar. Don't know what they'll do with it.

They keep it as back up for the RJ100

Coincidence! I just saw on Skynet that it was ferried today (I mean friday 22) to Exeter, "prior return to lessor".
Back-up no longer needed then; SN has enough planes for the winter season, but what about summer 2014?

Are you sure it is returning to lessor?
Re: Replacement of Brussels Airlines' Boeing & Avro RJ fleet
Maybe they'll add some more planes from FlyBe, would be nice...

What would be even nicer would be some aicraft with Brussels Airlines crew on it, and no Flybe crew

Re: Replacement of Brussels Airlines' Boeing & Avro RJ fleet
Hi,
In a pax. Point of view I prefer a FlyBe crew,...
Nothing bad about SN crew but when operated by BE, free drink and snack offered for all
Also in bLight...
But as a guess.. Maybe some germanwings planes over here, for thinking within the LHGroup..
CRJ900, Embraers E195...
