It must be very "exciting" to have an airline run by supporters.
regi, I have the fares from BKK:
EY--- 26500 3M
------ 29900 1Y
EK--- 24500 3M
------ 25500 6m
------ 33500 1Y

Divide by +- 50 for Ruro and add Taxes, for the moment no fuel surcharges....

Thank you for that, but the question remains if it is a flight straight from UAE or via Germany, Uk or France.
The prices are similar to other cheap flights ex BKK. It all depends if it will be a flight to Brussels or connected.

This Benelux representation can start to update the website. It still doesn't show Brussels as an active destination, not in the shedules, no news.
I checked again some booking sites. No mentioning of Etihad via Brussels.
No, also not on the Connections site - which promotes the flights.
All a bit slow, may I pressume?

Let's wait a couple of months. They are expanding for the moment, that's maybe the reason that they don't know if they got an airplane for the winterschedule to Brussels. That's their goal, serving Brussels.

I expect in September, October to hear more from Etihad.

Despite I may sound disrespectful, the truth is that I am really excited about the possebility that Etihad would come to Brussels. Besides of Biman and the bunch of western companies, it would be the only alternative out of Brussels to asian destinations.
Honnestly: fingers crossed!

It's like you said Regi. Let's cross our fingers and hope for the best. But looking into my crystal ball I must say that I'm quite confident to see Etihad in BRU in a couple of months ;)

I don't know any western airline linking Asia with Brussels for the moment (pax flights I mean) ;)

No you are right. I mean, today we have to stop once at fra, lhr, cdg or ams or dus for a flight to asia.
The only other one is Biman, but what is the use of that?

Biman folklore?
In that case they would fly planes made out of bamboo and papier maché.

Etihad flies now to Khartoum with cargo. This was one of the new destinations they want to serve. Brussels was also in that short list of three destinations.

I have a strong feeling that we not have to wait very long if we can read about new flights from Etihad to Brussels with cargo.

Etihad has finally received the licence to operate a scheduled 3xweekly international service between Abu Dhabi and Toronto via BRU.

The agreement was approved by the Belgium and Canadian authorities

The route will be operated by A330-200s. The service will begin at the end of October.

I surely hope there will finally be a direct link between BRU and BKK. I have to travel several times a year to get to my gf and everytime I have to travel to a different airport somewhere abroad to catch a China Airlines, Qantas, SWISS or Thai Airways flight. So far, i've been via Zurich, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and London Heathrow.. pretty annoying !! London was the best experience for me.

But oh I would love to see a direct link between Bru and Bkk then I can be at ease if my gf comes to Belgium. i'm scared she might have trouble at the customs in AMS or FRA

Cheers

Etihad website still silent about Brussels.
So you are faster than their webmaster.
Good to hear there is some real progress.

For our DAD BKK frequent flyer: Etihad will make no real change for you because you still have to make a stop in Abu Dhabi.
The best for your GF when she wants to come to a Shengen country is to send her by China airlines or Eva air to Amsterdam. With a Belgian Shengen visa.
Do not let her fly on an arab airline like Gulf, Emirates, Qatar or Etihad. We have seen the last 3 years several cases of Thai nationals on a tourist or even more serious visum being stopped in Dubai, Bahrain or Abu Dhabi and sent back! The tickets were never reimbursed. Yes, even when the visa is 100% okay. The explanation is that the arab carriers avoid the possebility to pay hefty fines if they import illegal immigrants. The visa are for Belgium. And the arab companies don't want to know that a shengen visa is also good for entry in France or Germany. Do also avoid to let her change planes e.g. do not send her on Biman - please don't!
China or Eva: that is fine. Every flight has quite some thai nationals on board who can help her underway.
Each time I have collected people at AMS from China Air or Eva, I have seen a lot of Thai people coming through.
Succes.

Qatar held a press conference today and announced the new route from Doha to Berlin starting December 15 2005.

In the list of new and expected destinations nothing mentioned about Bru. But it likes me normal because according to the list above they are not expected before Q2. If they have interest of course in flying to Bru.
