Nice impression from Medan in the news yesterday. Sorry for the quality (webcam shot from my computer screen, a normal screenshot wasn't possible).

What a bird! Thanks for sharing Robin!

Why wasn't a screenshot possible? This one is not too bad but maybe a screenshot could give us some more quality?

The "PrintScreen" button copied the Windows Media Player, but not the image that was playing on it (I tried several times). It simply copied a big black square where the image has to be.

Also note the nose of a second IL-76 in the upper right corner.

Best regards, Robin Bamps.

Sabang (SBG) as diversion airport for Banda Aceh (BTJ)

Post by SN30952 »

Indonesian officials today said they were worried about the possibility of accidents at over-stretched airports that received aid for tsunami victims, and had opened another one to ease the congestion.

Flights have already begun landing and taking off on the island of Sabang, just north of tsunami-devastated Sumatra island.

Sabang (SBG)is 40km NWest of Blang Bintang (BTJ), Banda Aceh, Indonesia.

That area used to have the most popular beaches: Gapang beach and Ibah beach in Sabang, Kuala Dou beach in West Aceh and the others most popular beaches uncrowded Banda Aceh are Ujung Batee beach, Lumpu'uk beach and Lho'nga beach.
All the beaches had clean waters and white sands. Sunset are quite impressive at the all beaches.

100 Russian heavy lift aircraft ready to help Asia

2005-01-13 15:51 RUSSIAN AIR FORCE AIRLIFTING HUMANITARIAN AID TO SOUTHEAST ASIA

MOSCOW, January 13 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Air Force (RusAF) transport aircraft are to fly over 10 missions more to deliver humanitarian aid to Southeast Asia, RusAF commander Gen. Vladimir Mikhailov said today.

"At present, RusAF aircraft have completed 13 flights to deliver humanitarian aid to the Southeast Asian countries stricken by the natural disaster. There are more than 10 flights more to go," Mikhailov said.

According to the Air Force chief, military aircraft deliver water purification installations, hospitals, tents, clothes and other humanitarian aid.

"Six aircraft of ours are shuttling to and fro,' the general remarked. "The number is due to the stop-over airfields being unable to receive many of our planes," the RusAF commander emphasised.

At present, the Service has in its inventory about 100 Il-76 aircraft with ready crews as well as other transports. So, we can scramble quite a few aircraft, if need be," Mikhailov added.

275kph. Isn't that an airspeed?

The range of a Super Puma is about 635Nm.
