I checked the FlyBe site, and it indeed shows that there are no flights available after the 25th of october. Sad, but true...

Don´t think so.
BE is still underway in its restructuring and that route is not the last one to go for sure.
They likely have set a comparably high threshold (for keeping a route) where ANR-LGW just doesn´t perform as required.
Even if ANR-LGW is not loosing money the yield may still be not as solid as required ...

May I be allowed some doubt, here, too? If even the champion of "low but sustainable profit" Ryanair has to warn shareholders for "limited profits in the next few years", how can any airline operator willingly give up any route that turns up a profit, however marginal?

I cannot help wondering if there isn't some kind of understanding - after all, the market from Antwerp was never big.

Well Maybe it's just simple...
SEN isn't LCY, it's not good enough connecties with thé city...
Biz. People won't just fly SEN instead LCY..
That's it, SEN is like STN leisure London only..
And An ATR doesn't fill up that easy on low yield servings..

F50,ATR42 with a high yield double daily LCY makes much more sense !
Therefor ... KLM to LCY OH air Antwerp !

It looks like the city wants the taxes it imposes and thinks has a right to it. Not very stupid!
But the media picks this up and the opponents of the airport use this to act infuriated. See also the last paragraph of the article:

As usual, the GvA is the voice of the Groen! party. Now that Ingrid Pira has not been re-elected, Wouter Van Besien will do the job. I am not sure the city council is fully aware of this dispute, or if it is stirred up by a(n) (over-active) civil servant. Obviously, this tax was never discussed nor negotiated when the LEM/EGIS contract was signed. Unfortunately, as long as Groen! is represented by several journalists in the GvA, we will see more of these articles (before the elections, there was minimum 1 negative article per week). The new ‘Groen!’ focus is now also on cruise ships. In the same edition today, GvA is claiming that no more cruise ships should vist Antwerp... And a few weeks ago they wanted to re-discuss Oosterweel...
