Re: 15 top intercontinental destinations out of BRU
I can think of certain of these destinations that may work, or at least may be tried by certain airlines in the future:
- Boston: SN
- Houston: UA
- San Francisco: SN
- Vancouver: AC (maybe through Toronto, after SN takes over YUL?) or even Air Transat
- Dubai: Emirates
- Johannesburg: maybe SN or SA... (tough I doubt this in the near future)
- Cape Town: (same as JNB)
- Mauritius: SN has the rights, but without sufficient Club Med (or other charter) feed, I doubt it
- Dar Es Salaam: SN? (already served by LX, I don't know if they want to give that up)
- Singapore: SQ
- Hong Kong: ???
- Shanghai: ???
- Tokyo: ANA
- Seoul: ... Asiana as tag-on to another EU destination? (doubt it)
- Amman: resumption of Royal Jordanian?
- Tripoli: resumption of Afriqiyah?
I don't think some of the above are that likely in the near future (within 2-5 years), and the ones I've let out seem even more unlikely to me.

@ Travellover
You're right of course, but obviously I wasn't clear enough. Brussels Airport statistics indicate 730 flights for EACH Delhi AND Mumbai.

Re: 15 top intercontinental destinations out of BRU
Thanks, Andorra-Aiport, but as Inquirer also indicated, the list you refer to is interesting, but it is not exactly what we are looking for. For instance, the high number of pax to AUH does not give us any indication of how many pax end their journey in AUH and how many connect there to other destinations and which those other destinations are. That would be interesting to know to determin the Top 15 intercontinental destinations which should have a direct connection with BRU. But thanks anyway for the list.andorra-airport wrote:Air Key West wrote:
Indeed, what we would need are statistics indicating the top of final non European destinations of pax starting their journey in BRU and of pax connecting at BRU to direct long-haul flights.
Here you go. List is for 2010 + 2011

AA will stop flying BOS-LHR on 31 March 2013. An opportunity for SN?

I believe BA is going 4 daily, up from 3 daily.sn26567 wrote:AA will stop flying BOS-LHR on 31 March 2013. An opportunity for SN?
Edit: I just see they (AA) planned to operate 3 daily 757 on the route during S13...Tough I don't know which aircraft BA will use for the extra flight, but probably not all capacity will be covered (I suppose that's the intention, otherwise it doesn't seem logical to give up the flexibility of 6 daily flights together to go to 4 daily, unless they want increased service, which is not the 757's strongest power).

I'm not interested in searching myself for it but I'm sure the search function would yield a topic or two from the past.Air Key West wrote: BrightCedars wrote :

I think nowadays the top of the list is HKG! "
Hi Guys ! It's not that I don't believe you, but do you remember what your sources are ? Interesting information.

Then lower on the same page:
Population drive times: 90 minute catchment: 10 million
Looks like their hours have more minutes than mine...
