LH is acting like a cheap golddigger... the money they "invested" in SN has already been returned by preventing big competition from BRU (from BA for example)
SN should be judged on their longhaul ops only as there is for most european routes no future and they know that.
why should the european network turn break even if the future of the LH group will be 4U doing 75% of the intra europe flights?

I think that the most interesting piece of information is the 93 million operational loss.
That's very close to the 100 million minimum that we were debating before.

LH made a safe bet by saying that they will buy SN when it becomes profitable... when will that be? At this pace, never.
I won't make predictions for this year's loss but Gustin's start of the year break-even goal has already been abandoned by himself for a 20 million loss... which is about the same as what they were saying last year at around this period.

Again, I don't see much that can improve the result, if not that fuel is a bit cheaper and SN no longer has to pay interest on their huge start-up support loan to the Flemish government as that has been washed away.
Some loss-making routes have been cut but not that spectacularly, but they will be hit more and more by the ever-increasing competition of TK and others.

And again, I don't see anything that could tip the balance in favor of profits for next year or the year after that. SN has bought itself some time thanks to LH and the Flemish government, but if they continue like this, at the end of 2014 they will again have to beg around for money or close the books.

Knowing that, maybe it's time to try something now that they still have time (and money).

Once again, when Beyond 2012-2013 was approved last year, the goal for 2013 was a loss of 20 million and break even in 2014! At this moment (or let's say when IAD was launched) they once again said their loss for this year will range from 0 to 20 million with better than expected results in the first quarter (except for the yields in Africa) and an operational profit in 2014 instead of just break even.
And last year around this period, they predicted (for the year 2012) a loss ranging from 30-40 million to a similar loss like 2011, so no that's not about the same as what they are saying now.

As said by Inquirer, the operational loss of SN Airholding(!) in 2012 doesn't fully reflect the actual operational loss of Brussels Airlines in 2012. Yes they booked a bad loss, but still far away from the 100 million, which were weren't debating before, but which you pushed as one of your certainties that 100 million would be the minimum(!)...

I did say that 100 million loss minimum would make sense. I wasn't right, but not by far it seems
I did say that the balance would tip in the bad direction and the loss would become worse, given the higher costs that they were going to confront.
I think that SN is still underestimating the damage that TK will do to them for the rest of the year.

Christoph Franz, the CEO of Lufthansa, made an interview published today by the newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung.

Asked about any potential acquisitions, he said that Lufthansa's priority is to improve the performance of Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Swiss, three companies acquired in recent years.
