Many !!! Why do so many 707's fly in congo, because they are reliable,
which in africa is even more important than elsewhere.
Or because, there are no Airbuses that are so old? :) Except some A300 maybe.

@ Bartjuh

Cos Boeings never break down - right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8O 8O 8O :?

Another reason why so many old airliners end up in Africa and places like S America is cost - they are cheap to buy and there are lots af easily obtained spares. Look where many are registered too - flags of convenience like 3C- & 3D-. Aircraft from some of these countries are banned in Europe not because of noise restrictions but de to poor standads of maintenance, lack of proper crew licensing etc.

No one will ever win an argument over which manufacturer is better - the big 2 both build excellent aircraft. Our preferences are all personal and very subjective. I have no real preference but I do think that the 747 and the 340 both look fantastic out at the marker on approach, the great "lump" that is the 74, and those long wings with 4 engines make the 340 soooo distinctive.

Than again I 'm a fan of the old V-tailed Bonanza - no accounting for taste, eh!

I see that 'bartjuh' , 'meerkat' and '777'
are happy allies to the best planes around.

BTW should we not switch to the KLM 777 & MD-11 topic, as the messages are more B777 related ??

@ Lien

Why switch to the 777 topic :?: We aren't talking about that plane at all, we just talk about Boeing and Airbus in general.

@bartjuh

I'd love to come to see some more planes

Since you seem sure of what you're saying, you should probably write a letter to SNBA to tell them to choose Boeing if they want to save money on the maintenance :P

BTW I'd love to see a B717 or a B737 in SNBA's colours

Ciao

I think, Lien thinks the topic is more related to
the B777 than the A330.

Lol, i think she wants to say that she didn't fly on all planes...
I'm very angry also :x we are only taking about the 777 there is a topic for THAT ! So please stop talking about this plane here it's not the point !

Indeed the remarks on the airbus are welcom, it's also interesting to know the "bad" things of a plane...

But I work with airplanes,( first with Lufthansa techniks, and now with KLMMaintance ) and i see with my own eyes that a lot of airlines ( Like Lufthansa, BA, SAS, Condor, LTU, and even in Holland by Martinair and Dutchbird ) have a lot more promblems with a 2 year old airbus then a 8 year old Boeing.
Does even the A320 family show more problems than the 737 family :?:

Here are some more pics of the A330's of VG:

Here is a view of the LARGE Business class of SNBA ! Also with a personal TV ofcourse !

http://www.airliners.net/open.file/244599/L/

Here are some Business classes and First classes from an other airline (Air France) to compare. The Business class of SNBA looks more brider than the First and Business class of Air France ...

Business class :

777-200ER :
http://www.airliners.net/open.file/338929/M
747-400 :
http://www.airliners.net/open.file/351523/M
A340-300 :
http://www.airliners.net/open.file/229314/M/

First class :

777-200ER :
http://www.airliners.net/open.file/316236/M
747-400 :
http://www.airliners.net/open.file/349845/M
http://www.airliners.net/open.file/351522/M
A330-200 :
http://www.airliners.net/open.file/302079/M

And here the economic class :

http://www.airliners.net/open.file/242355/L/

Even the colors on Air France looks very sad...Give me your remarks !

Why can't Air France just call it 'Business class' like everybody ?
