Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
I just saw on Airfleefts.fr that SN will get 2 A319 coming from Frontier. N936FR should become OO-SSA and N937FR shoud become OO-SSB.
Do you know if they will keep the Frontier IFE system in every seats ?

Nice expansion again!
Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
One aspect I haven't seen discussed here is the impact of the replacement on the number of F/A, per a/c and globally. I'm sure the professionals on this site have the answer to that.

What is your question exactly?convair wrote:One aspect I haven't seen discussed here is the impact of the replacement on the number of F/A, per a/c and globally. I'm sure the professionals on this site have the answer to that.
At the moment the situation is:
RJ: 2 F/A
A319/B733: 3 F/A
320/B734 4 F/A
A332/A333: 8 F/A
Until a few weeks ago, everybody who flew A332/A333 was also qualified on the RJ, now this has changed, F/A's will fly A330/A32F or A32F/B733/B734 or A32F/RJ.
This means that the extra a/c won't result in a lack of F/A's, as the 737's are gone by October and extra crew is being trained on A330/A32F.
Despite of the extra A32F a/c that are joining the fleet, we will have a lot of temporary contracts (F/A) that won't be needed anymore during the calmer winter months.

You answered my question very nicely HighInTheSky. Thank you.

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
According to Skyliner:
- Airbus A320-214; c/n 2810, ex- EI-DET: in full colors at Shannon at 15 July, EI-reg prior delivery (airfleets gives this one OO-SNF)
Any information on the planned delivery date?
And also according to Skyliner:
- Boeing 737-405, OO-VEK: ferried 18 July BRU-KEF-YYR on return to lessor
- Airbus A320-214; c/n 2810, ex- EI-DET: in full colors at Shannon at 15 July, EI-reg prior delivery (airfleets gives this one OO-SNF)

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
Airbus short/medium-haul fleet at SN is now on a par with Avro: 16 each; replacement really on its way now with 3 more 319/320 expected and remaining RJ85s to retire before yearend as I understood.
Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
It seems replacement of the RJ85's is well under way. Same for the 733's and 734's.
But I lost track of SN's future fleet plans. The short-haul fleet will have 15 A319's, 6 A320's, 12 RJ100's, and the wet-leased Q400's.
I guess they will add some more A319's and A320's. Will they keep wet-leasing planes, or have their own fleet of 6-8 Q400's? The RJ100 will eventually be phased out, but does anyone know by when? And will there be a replacement, like the E170 or E190, or the CS100?
Are they thinking about these decisions, or will it all depend on how the LH Group story continues?

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
When is the last RJ85 flight? (will it be in 2012?)
Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
If I remember well, one RJ85 will stay in the fleet as spare aircraft, at least for comming winter season (I assume it doesn't cost SN a lot or even any money if they don't fly it, like OO-JAT for JAF for exemple). So it's quite difficult to say when the last RJ85 flight will be operated.air belgium wrote:When is the last RJ85 flight? (will it be in 2012?)
Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
Things aren't going so well in Europe. I'm hearing that bookings for September /October are very slow across the continent. SN's parent company is now valued at less than 0, accoding to its consolidated results.I guess they will add some more A319's and A320's. Will they keep wet-leasing planes, or have their own fleet of 6-8 Q400's? The RJ100 will eventually be phased out, but does anyone know by when? As long as they keep paying back their debt, the banks will keep it running.
Once you start looking at cash and cash flow, you're no longer in control and trying to steer your ship around the storm. You are in the storm and taking water.
The only way SN coud get lessor approval for a fleet of E170/E190's is if they lease them through LH.
Yields are down, the cheaper oil is nulled by the expensive dollar.
Business travel is stagnating and may collapse towards the end of the year, leisure is supporting the demand. With the expected losses this year (which I still expect to exceed 100M dspite reports that it will be about the same or less than last year), the cash will come dangerously close to the advance payments for bookings. The bottleneck will be in November/December, before the winter, when the advance payments will be at their lowest and most of the losses already booked.
The LH story has already ended, it is pretty clear that they're not investing and are leaving the company to rotten. It couldn't be more clear, yet so many people refuse to see it.
Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
On planespotters.net, it is stated that OO-VEH (and its winglets) is due to be delivered to Korongo. Can anyone confirm? Thanks
Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
A second 737-300 for Korongo? What additional routes would that second 737 be used on?convair wrote:On planespotters.net, it is stated that OO-VEH (and its winglets) is due to be delivered to Korongo. Can anyone confirm? Thanks
I thought those recently announced domestic routes were going to be served with Bae146, of which the second is regularly flying from BRU in preparation of its departure to Congo.
