And which airline company did you contact for a chartered cargo flight? :D
(I hope they fly some Il-76. It's already a long time ago I saw one of these.)

BieleAlbatrosy - I hope they fly IL-76s too, I have never seen one of those  maybe the IL-76 would be a little too small for my beer, an AN-225 might be a better bet

Trevor - I have never seen that beer. The supermarket which used to sell South American beers here closed down, I had some interesting ones from there - Inca Gold from Peru, Sol and Corona from Mexico and a Brazilian beer I don't remember the name of.

Having some draught-style Guinness tonight :drink: :drink: :drink:

Now that is one very nice beer!
Would love to see you drink "Second hand vomit " icon_mad.gif
I really hope you don't think I meant that literally  I was just making that comparison to show just how much of an aversion I have to the idea of that so-called "Stella".

I would drink a glass of Orval before I would touch the fake "Stella Artois".

VC10 went into the local "beer shop" this afternoon to buy some Brigand, some Bush and some Mort Subite. When she paid for them, the assistant told her that they were now taking the orders for Christmas beer if we wanted to submit one

Last time we ordered Christmas beer from there they either couldn't get what we wanted (Sloeber, Tongerlo, Ciney, Ename, Rochefort 6, Jan van Gent) or they got the wrong type (Palm Speciale instead of Palm Dobbel!) or they b*ggered about and kept telling us our order of Rochefort 10 was held up or would be coming "tomorrow"when they had had it in and sold it to some other b*gger

VC10 informed them that we were going to Brussels on Wednesday and would be buying our special beers there

And I cannot wait to go in Falstaff on Wednesday! We may be missing out on some very fine eating places by always heading for Falstaff, but we have been going there ever since 2000.

Tonight we are having Rochefort 8 - wonderful :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink:

On Wednesday - who knows what delights await???

Luton in Belgium? Luton is in Pakistan!
I can confirm that: I once asked some info from a Luton airport staff, she had to refer to three other Pakistani for an answer...
And Allah help me, is this isn't true...

I am now back from my beer buying trip to a proper beer shop. Naturally we got some great types in Brussels, with Roman well represented among our selection. We had great flights there and back, some spotting in BHX (spoilt only by the very grim weather) and the chance to hurl Broad Yorkshire at an ignorant waiter in Falstaff.

  He might think "yon gret wazzack ovver thee-ar" means something highly complimentary and could end up trying it himself

Sad to see Falstaff go down the pan though, we had gone in there every year since 2000.

And we did have a Primus on the Grand Place, same place as we went into in March.

The beers we bought will be arranged and photographed and put into this thread, so people can see what beauties we have bought

You dared? Primus, the only Belgian pilsner type of beer that claims to have corn as an ingredient. Not very traditional... :(

Maybe I am not the only one here who drinks Primus? I remember in the chatbox last year a certain person said he had been drinking Primus when the weather was hot...

Here are the results of our beer shopping trip to Brussels on 3rd November.

Image

Left to right - front row: Primus (Haacht), Bush Blonde (Dubuisson), Petrus Oud Bruin (Bavik), Sloeber (Roman), Ename Dubbel (Roman), Ename Dubbel (Roman), Sloeber (Roman), Adriaen Brouwer (Roman), Rochefort 6 (Rochefort), Bush Blonde (Dubuisson).

back row: Rochefort 6 (Rochefort), Primus (Haacht), Tongerlo Dubbel (Haacht), Petrus Oud Bruin (Bavik).

What a beautiful selection! :drink: We don't know which of those beauties will be the Christmas beer, but we do intend to enjoy them all :drink:

And the Sloeber does not have a hint of sediment, unlike last year!

Speaking of Bush (the beer, not W):

1) You probably barely missed the Bush de Noël (Christmas type) which was just reeleased. I bought two four-packs this morning.

2) The :censored: of Anheuser Busch in America just won a court case against Dubuisson, compelling them to abandon the Bush name in some countries (but not Belgium). In those countries Bush will be named Scaldis.

I hope Bush won't be Scaldis over here

The Christmas Bush is very nice, we had some one year. A pity we just missed the Christmas beers by a few days though.

    But then I had more room in my bag for some Roman beers, which I wouldn't have if we had just bought Christmas varieties

Had a Bush Amber last night, great beer :drink:

Tonight we are having Mort Subite Framboise, quite pleasant :drink: but the best lambics are the ones from Cantillon. They are a connoisseur's lambic.

I can't wait for my next Sloeber though   Now that is what you call a seriously great beer!

As for your opinion about Orval, it show that you know very little about Belgian Trappist beers. Take the time to enjoy it, and you will see that Orval (which has only one type of beer, contrary to all other trappist abbeys) is on the top of the Trappist league.
All this from someone who would not recognise quality if it jumped out in front of him

At least I know something quality when I see it

I have to agree with sn26567    , and Comet when you're talking about quality, please don't talk about "Sloeber" because only thinking about Sloeber "quality" gives me :dammit:
