Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
And another A319 for SN appeared on airfleets.net, this time it is OO-SSN.
Aircraft: Airbus A319-112
First flight: 25/03/2003
Delivery: 18/07/2003 to Air Canada
Later career: Went to Skybus for a while in late 2007/early 2008, than back to Air Canada until November 2008 when it was stored again. After that it went to US company Aerodynamics until it was stored in July 2011. Appears to be in the hands of GECAS.
Current age: 8,9 years
http://www.airfleets.net/ficheapp/plane-a319-1963.htm
After OO-SSW this the second 'new' A319 for SN this year, it will be number 12 in SN's fleet. Based on age this aircraft can be situated between OO-SSM (build in 2000) and OO-SSV (build in 2004).
Also two A320's are currently identified for SN as mentionned in this topic before.
It is clear the end of the 737's in SN's fleet is comming closer and closer with al these A319/A320's comming in. But I can imagine many/some of the 737's leave after the summer and the A319/A320's com in before/during summer so that SN has a temporary larger fleet in the summer season?

It is strange that Brussels Airlines uses the OO-SSN registration again. Sabena had another A319 with the same registration, delivered in 2001 shortly before the bankruptcy. It was later used by Mexicana and is presently stored.MR_Boeing wrote:And another A319 for SN appeared on airfleets.net, this time it is OO-SSN.

If its Belgian reg was scrapped more than 10 years ago, I wouldn't call it strange if they (SN) use it for another aircraft.sn26567 wrote: It is strange that Brussels Airlines uses the OO-SSN registration again. Looking at the cerial numbers of SN's A319's you see that OO-SSN will be behind OO-SSM and before OO-SSV. I suppose they just took that reg as it follows OO-SSM and that reg isn't used anymore for another aircaft. Just an idea though.
Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
Just as a reminder, N is also before P, Q, R and U.

Yes but I was just looking at the cerial numbers and in that case OO-SSN is between OO-SSM and OO-SSV.convair wrote:Just as a reminder, N is also before P, Q, R and U.

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
In the latest edition of bspirit magazine, they mention for April:
11 A319; 3 A320; back to 2 733(?); 4 734; 12 RJ100; 4 RJ85.

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
Quote from LH rumours to sell OS thread on airliners.net
Or is it just plain common sense and are the airline penguin suit mba's just plain idiots?
What's sure is that their business model in Europe on short-haul is a complete failure.
I see that some people have a vision, similar to mine. (though I see the cs300 as an alternative to the A319, I feel that the CS100 is too heavy to be competitive, so there I disagree with the above quote.)In my most humble opinion. They need to simplify their fleet. An airline that's as small as Austrian should be flying smaller aircraft to more places, with additional frequencies where necessary. For example, imagine rolling VO into OS and going with a fleet of ~ 25 Q400s (maybe leave these with VO to avoid service inconsistencies), 15 CS100s, 35 CS300s for short-haul and 15-20 787 (10/5 split on -8/-9s?) covering more destinations. IMHO, the 777 is just too big for OS.
Next, they should be offering real J on all mainline routes in Europe. None of this put down an armrest with a cupholder in the middle seat for J on an Airbus.
Next, proper lie flats (not angled flat beds) in J on long-haul.

Last week, thursday I think, I saw an SN avrojet with titles and logo's removed taking off. Couldn't catch the registration.

DJK/L/N/O/Q/S/T are out of the fleet now.
7 down, 7 to go.
Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
LTM (Korongo) is not in the fleetlist of Brussels Airlines anymore as it will operate for Korongo that's why they mention 2 737-300convair wrote:In the latest edition of bspirit magazine, they mention for April:

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
I was looking for flights to Strasbourg at the beginning of April and noticed that b.air is replacing its Avrojets by a (wet-leased, I assume) Flybe Q400 on this destination. I cannot remember if it has already been mentioned on the forum, apart from wet-leased Q400s from Tyrolean, but eventually how many turboprops is b.air wet-leasing, from whom, for how long and on which routes ? Does anyone have the info ?
Thanks.
Thanks.
In favor of quality air travel.

It will be 2 Q400s ( replacing 2 Avro RJ 85) on LYS, BHX, HAM , TRN, BSL, SXB.Air Key West wrote:I was looking for flights to Strasbourg at the beginning of April and noticed that b.air is replacing its Avrojets by a (wet-leased, I assume) Flybe Q400 on this destination. Normally they will be painted in B.air livery.

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
I'm happy to see that some of the progress goes into the right direction. It will be 2 Q400s ( replacing 2 Avro RJ 85) on LYS, BHX, HAM , TRN, BSL, SXB.
Normally they will be painted in B.air livery.
Let's hope that they roll out more of these to existing destinations like MXP, VCE, BLQ, FLR, NCE (off season), ARN, CPH, GVA,(the lighter flights), new destinations such as LCY (excellent for high yield short and longhaul feed) NTE and several in the UK, without forgetting AMS, RTM and LSQ.
That livery is going to look beautiful on the Dash.
Let's hope that they don't paint the cowlings pink.
