Easier/faster* to bring back plane and repair in FRA.
I was on that flight

Not to mention the understaffed customer that which had to rebook an entire A380
*for Lufthansa

Can you tell us on which flight you were rebooked and your delay on arrival in IAH compared to your initial schedule?Frederic_K wrote: ↑12 Sep 2017, 06:40Easier/faster* to bring back plane and repair in FRA.

Sure!
We were notified when flying over Iceland safety is crucial and we would return because of the reasons I stated earlier.
Upon arrival FRA airport was quite chaotic, as all people had to go to the 16 service desks to have an individual solution. I was at the first 20% of the row and still I had to wait for 2 hours, so people standing at the back will have been there a lot longer.
I heard 3 options:
-fly out to Munich in the evening, stay in their back up hotel and take the MUN-IAH leg in the morning
-stay in FRA, go to the hotel and at 6.45 take the FRA-MUN flight and then do MUN-IAH
-stay in FRA, go to the hotel and take next days 10.00 FRA-IAH flight.
I was lucky enough to get option 3, so exact delay was 24 hours.

Thanks for your testimony. That's a case for an EU261 compensation.

I'm wondering... do you get miles twice now? You have two boardingpasses... so...

Me thinks that an inflight engine failure is an extraordinary circumstance, thus excluding the compensation.sn26567 wrote: ↑13 Sep 2017, 10:12 Thanks for your testimony. That's a case for an EU261 compensation.

It also seems that Lufthansa arranged assistance and offered rerouting possibilities. So one can only blame them for not having an A380 and crew in backup...

Wizzair flight #W6-1898 from Reykjavik, Iceland to Wroclaw, Poland (A320 reg. HA-LPH) returned to Keflavik 40 minutes after take off. The reason was a fire in one toilet, according to @visir_is on Twitter. Somebody has been smoking where he shouldn't?
