First of all, I am not planning on applying to those airlines. Second of all, how many of you are ACTUAL certified pilots, I'm talking people with licenses, not someone who had a few hours doing stalls and steep turns???? Oh and once again do a wee bit more research, American, Continental, and Delta are all not in bankruptcy!!!! U.S. Airways and United on the other hand are in for a rough ride!!! Refer to this article, it should enlighten a few of you. As for finding a new job, last time I checked, I LOVE WHAT I DO. And I don't think it will be hard to find a job that I want when I'm qualified. Hell I'll be flying Embraers before I can even get to the big boys!!! How many of you can actually say that you even work in the Aviation industry???? I'm serious, I want to know. I'm not talking about taking pictures or reading articles, how many actually participate in the industry??? Many of you love Airbus, is it that hard to comprehend that I have the same passion for Boeing???

Thank you Horsepower, but you are not one of the people I was referring to. Just out of curiosity what do you do??

I can actually say that my work is absolutely, positively NOT aviation related. I love Airbus purely because it's a European, thus 'our', product. I have never actually flown in one!

I wish Boeing well with the 787, because I really like the way it looks, and because it incorporates daring innovative technology. I hope they will eventually achieve the same kind of cockpit commonality as Airbus has. I also wish Airbus well with the A350, so Boeing will stay alert. I hope the A380 will also be a success. I'm sure there will be a market for both extra-large planes and medium-size widebodies for p2p flights.

I agree!!! That is one HUGE problem that Boeing does have is flightdeck commonality (I use the word flightdeck as opposed to COCKpit to be more p.c., apparently that kind of mistake can land you in a world of hurt at American!!!). The A350 has the advantage of learning off of the 787's mistakes which is good for Airbus, bad for Boeing. This is why they MUST compete in this market.

OK Knight 255 I'll take the bait, you are probably referring to me anyway. I work in the industry, I have for the last 21 years. I have a commercial licencse, I no longer fly commercial pax flights. The last thing I flew was a corporate Beech 200. I have held senior manangement positions in Airlines, IE Accountable manager, Quality Manager, Operations Manager and Technical manager so I think I ma qualified to speak in this forum. Oh by the way I know work in the European goverment area in Aviation ,

Good luck finding a job, but I have to say, If you would have applied for one with me and it became apparent that you would not fly an Airbus during the interview you would not have been hired. How could I justify hiring someone to fly my Boeing fleet when some day in the future I might change to Airbus (as many have done) and you would then refuse to fly. Is there any other aircraft you would not fly ? I am also a lover of both Boeing and Airbus, nothing against either, horses for courses etc

I would say that if you ever get a simulator chance in an A320, just try it for the experience.

I'll try it. Keep in mind though, finding jobs here and not flying Airbus's isn't that hard. The one airline still hiring people (Southwest) has all 737s. I'm not planning on making a career flying in Europe. Beech 200's aren't bad, hell I'd love that kind of turbine experience. I took a class last semester on the systems. What's it like?!??!?! :) We are getting way off the subject with my career goals and what the topic is, so for that I apologize.

What exactly is the difference between the A300 and the A310?? Will they fall both into the same category of the A350, that is if it is produced??

An A310 is a shortened A300. Not sure but I think TAP's A310 are still in a 200 pax config.
