Very strange: Lufthansa flight LH929, from London City (LCY) to Frankfurt (FRA) diverted to Brussels Airport (BRU). But at the point where it diverted, the aircraft was closer to Frankfurt, it's final destination, than Brussels. Has anyone an idea why it did choose BRU as airport of diversion?
I just found out that FRA is closed due to reported drone activity at the airport. According to Eurocontrol, the airport might be closed until 14:00 local time.
Flight operations in Frankfurt resumed after being halted by drone activity
Gatwick had to close for maybe 30 minutes due to an aircraft on the runway which needed to be towed. Not yet really clear what happened. 3 easyJet had to declare an emergency, operations resumed.
Qatar Airways flight #QR905, Melbourne-Doha, (Airbus A380 reg.A7-APG) is squawking 7700 and now tracking toward Singapore. Still at FL370. Reason for diversion currently unknown.
BA1 LCY-SNN-JFK on March 18 diverted LHR due to... low occupancy. The plane was in the air for a total of 50 minutes. Flight had reportedly only one passenger and BA decided flying him to LHR with a first-class upgrade on a LHR-JFK was a better option. Given the time it takes to travel LCY-LHR on the ground + clearing security at LHR, flying may have been the better option.
On March 20 the aircraft ferried LHR-MAD for maintenance. As the aircraft is specially equipped for the LCY-JFK route, this means BA1 is canceled for some time.

I remember having read somewhere that the route would be definitively cancelled and the plane returned to the lessor.

British Airways #BA65 London Heathrow to Nairobi (Boeing 777-200ER reg. G-RAES) has turned back near Frankfurt and is returning to LHR.
The pilot told ATC: "We had a message the Kenyan authorities have denied us access to their airspace."
And they couldn't warn the airline or the flight one hour earlier ....
Still better than Israel having the Korean Air plane go back with all its 200 foreign passengers only 12 Israelis were allowed off and Turkey didnt allow a Turkish Airlines cruise ship repatriation charter to go to IST and it was diverted elsewhere after completing half its journey from Phnom Penh, 300 people had to stay 8 hours at Karachi maybe not even allowed off the plane.
British Airways flight BA31 London-Hong Kong (B777-300ER reg. G-STBJ) is returning to London due to a technical issue. The aircraft’s transponder has not broadcast altitude values during this flight.
