SN Brussels Airlines looks for partners in Asia
Moderator: Latest news team
By the way, any news about possible Asian partners for SNBA ? How about the old rumour of a close cooperation with SQ ? Has that idea completely died in the meantime ? :jump:lumumba wrote:hI Taya
I'm totaly agree with you.
Also don't forget the indian cumunity here in Antwerp is big.
But I'm not sure that Mumbai is a good hub to go true Asia.

Nothing concrete for the moment.
Here are the most rumored partners for the moment:
_Hainan Airlines: on the still waiting BRU-PEK route...
_Etihad: but it would only be on the BRU-YYZ route,
_Jet Airways: BRU-BOM route (but will 9W offering any connecting destinations
Apart some domestics routes and flights to SIN and KUL
)
SQ would be an ideal partner but it's very unlikely to happen.

And what about ANA on the BRU-TYO route ?OrientThai wrote:Nothing concrete for the moment.

Not so easy. To convince a carrier to fly into BRU, you need to tick each of the following boxes :
o market that allows me to fill an aircraft at an acceptable load factor
o market that allows an acceptable yield (competition at AMS, CDG...)
o availability of an aircraft of practical type for this route, at decent price
o traffic rights on main and ongoing routes (5th freedom?)
o a good local partner to offer onwards destinations
o no limitations by night curfew (if night ops are to be expected)
The existence of competing carriers on same route or competing routes, influences some of these conditions.
The precence of same-alliance member carriers / code share partners at the same airports or competing nearby airports also influences the decision.
Furthermore, they like good financial conditions, good partnerships for handling/catering/maintenance/fuel, a good slot, etc...
For most of the carriers mentioned in the previous posts above, most of these boxes can be ticked. Sadly, for most carriers either not all conditions apply, or Brussels currently competes with other new destinations they want to add to their network and that look even more favorable at this moment.
Given the financial risk, it is not surprising that most are very cautious....
Luckily, times are a-changing. I bet we'll have several Asians here within next 24 months.
