It's really nice to sea our airport growing, however let's hope some new airlines will come soon, Thomas Cook? Germanwings? Transavia? Norwegian? Sad to see this airport in the hand of Ryanair.

CRL is doing huge investisment to welcome more PAX but what whould happend if FR moves to LIL, BRU or LGG.

Would be nice as well to have like "our Belgian low cost airlines". Maybe flying from CRL

There are also Jetairfly (25 destinations in summer) and Wizzair (7 destinations).
But it sure would be nice to see other low-cost operators coming to CRL : Norwegian Air Shuttle for one.
IF IT AIN'T BOEING, I'M NOT GOING.

Why is it "sad" to see the airport "in the hands of Ryanair"?

The only reason why the airport is what it is,the reason why JAF started basing a/c there, why Wizz flies there, is because of Ryanair, not in spite off.

True, but CRL depends to much on one carrier alone... if (and if only ) FR decides to move, it will be pretty deserted.

Personally I don't see this happening quickly: only BRU can accomodate FR's CRL fleet and is in the same catchment area as CRL. I see it only happening if (and if only) Bru Air collapses.

Conclusion: CRL, pay attention your biggest customer doesn't kill Bru Air, because that could kill yourself!

Cheers,

Stij

Yes, what I was meaning what that 90 pourcent of the traffic is from Ryanair, even if I know that JAF and W6 are there too.

However the number of airlines are decreasing year after year, before there were Ryanair, Jetairfly, wizzair, Air Blue, Air Arabia, Jet4you,... CRL says they are in contact with other airlines but nothing is comming...

Charleroi Airport fourth best "low cost" airport in the world

Brussels South Charleroi Airport, BSCA, was elected as the fourth best "low cost" airport in the world, according to the annual ranking of the World Airport Awards from the British consultancy firm Skytrax.

The survey was conducted over a nine month period between 2012 and 2013. It is based on a questionnaire sent to twelve million passengers from 108 nationalities in 395 airports around the world. The survey focused on the perception of travellers for 39 services such as check-in, arrivals, transfer, shopping, security, etc..

London Stansted Airport topped the ranking of the best "low-cost" airport in the world for the third consecutive year. It precedes Berlin Schönefeld, winner in 2010, and Luton (London), second last year. BSCA is ranked fourth, down one place from 2012.

According to the managing director of BSCA, Jean-Jacques Cloquet: "This is the recognition of the work done by the entire staff of the airport."

Luton number 3? I'm clearly not used to LCC airports, I was at Luton on Friday and Sunday flying with easyJet and the airport was reasonable for its size, but I didn't expect it to be one of the best LCC airports.

Holding Communal invests in Charleroi Airport

Holding Communal/Gemeentelijke Holding, the financial vehicle of the cities and municipalities that is in liquidation, invests in Charleroi Airport. Together with the Italian group Save the Holding Communal purchases additional shares in the airport through the exercise of a call option The seller is the Walloon government.

Holding Communal, the former major shareholder of Dexia, has long been a shareholder of Brussels South Charleroi Airport (BSCA), the operator of the successful Charleroi airport. Holding Communal has an indirect interest through Belgian Airports, its alliance with the Italian group Save.

Belgian Airports (65% Save and 35% Holding Communal) had nearly 28 percent of BSCA. Through its call option it increases its interest to 48.3 percent. The seller is the Walloon government business Sowaer.

The exercise of the call option is cheap: Belgian Airports puts only 11 million euros on the table.

It is not clear why the Holding Communal, which is being dismantled, still participates in the operation.

100% of flights?? I don't really believe that to be honest, especially with the ATC strikes in France :?

Whahaha, I think OAG lacks some data on some LCC's or something like that (which is not to be bad about LCC's, not at all, it's simply a fact that many leading organisations lack data on LCC's because they are often not cooperating with them, even IATA).
100% of all flights departing and arriving within 15 minutes of their shedule, no way.

2% growth for the first half.

Brussels South Charleroi Airport (BSCA) recorded a 2% growth in passenger numbers during the first six months of 2013. Between January 1 and June 30, 2013, 3,074,809 passengers transited through the airport compared to 3.000.4000 during the same period last year.

Aircraft movements
The number of flights has decreased by 6% during the same period, compared to 2012. This is mainly due to a decrease in the number of non-commercial flights and a slight improvement in the occupancy rate of the capacity offered into seats.

Top 5 destinations first half
Among the 110 destinations that are currently proposed for BSCA, Budapest was chosen by the largest number of passengers, followed by Milan (Bergamo), Barcelona (El Prat), Rome (Ciampino) and Madrid.
At the country level, Spain is still the favorite with more than 800,000 passengers during the first half of the country. Followed by Italy (747,000 pax), Morocco (300,000 pax), France (280,000 pax) and Poland (148,000 people).

And by the way, Lille is not a base, so how could they have "more" planes based there?
