Brussels Airlines joining Star Alliance in December 2009

Re: BRUSSELS AIRLINES to join STAR ALLIANCE in December
There is a mistake on the airport map... UA's check-in isn't on row 9, but on row 4, within the SN area... Unless they are going to move again...
Re: BRUSSELS AIRLINES to join STAR ALLIANCE in December
In opposite of the ticketing counter of Brussels Airlines there is a big billboard with a picture of Eddy Merckx. It's an advertisement for Brussels Airlines and Star Alliance, very nice! Something like Brussels Airlines joined Star Alliance now I can earn miles with flying 26 airlines.
I'm curious if Brussels Airlines will do something the 9th december at Brussels Airport

The b.there magazine from December 2009 carries the Star Alliance logo allready. The picture of Eddy Merckx is also in the magazine. There's also some general information about Star Alliance in this edition.

The magazine still refers to Privilege, and to "Gold" and "Platinum" card on the pages where the three cabin classes are explained! I suggest to change this to set out the M&M FTL/SEN/HON benefits, and the *S and *G benefits.brussels airlines wrote:The b.there magazine from December 2009 carries the Star Alliance logo allready. Anybody can give an insight in the schedule for tomorrow? Where will the joining ceremony take place? B-house? Airport? Hanger?
And when again is the annual board meeting of Star Alliance?

The joining ceremony will take place on the grand place in Brussels at 18h30. Before that, there will be a press conference at 17h00. B.Air. will broadcast everything over the internet with a link they will make available on their website.Conti764 wrote:Anybody can give an insight in the schedule for tomorrow? On the Grand Place? They will have a hard time getting any aircraft there! (Usually, there is always an aircraft in the background of the joining ceremony.)taz001 wrote:The joining ceremony will take place on the grand place in Brussels at 18h30. Re: BRUSSELS AIRLINES to join STAR ALLIANCE in December
Indeed.
SN has chosen the grote mark/grand place of Brussels as the location of the ceremony.
There's an outdoor part, with a lightshow and an indoor event in the fabulous town hall with all CEOs of the Star alliance airlines.
It's definitely a superb occasion to take some beautiful pictures in this scenic environment, definitely better than a dirty hangar somewhere at BRU, especially if you don't have anything new to show....
Looking forward even more to what (if anything) they will tell at the press conference earlier on the day, notably on the LHR-route as well as the 5th long haul plane.

Hi
I have read this forum for a couple of years and never got round to registering, so 1st post!
Do you think the event in Grand Place will be open to the public? Or what exactly they'll be doing there? I'd like to pop down to see what's going on if it might be interesting
Cheers!

The event on the Grand Place itself is open for public, the meeting inside the Town Hall is on invitation only.BRUMRU wrote:Hi

There will be a sound and light show, not much more info is given...

Re: BRUSSELS AIRLINES to join STAR ALLIANCE in December
Hello,
I am so glad to see the Star Alliance logo currently loaded now on brussels airlines website... now I can go to sleep
It's a good thing, especially after the today announcement of Ryanair (4 add. aircrafts based @ CRL)... strong competition there even if the new destinations are not all key markets for SN...
No doubt Star Alliance will contribute to both brussels airlines & brussels airport growths...
Go on SN

Well, all the check-in counters and the ticket desk now sport the Star Alliance logo. Congratulations SN... or should we say: thank you LH?
Re: Brussels Airlines to join Star Alliance in December
I found this on the Star Alliance website:
So I hope they will tell us something tonight about this.Network expansion in 2010 will add further African destinations, placing Brussels Airlines as the key player connecting Africa to the world.

Damn...
I don't like the partnership with UA...

Only 50% for the most common bookingclasses...

So there is a press conference at 17:00 in the town hall (not public) and then a public joining ceremony on the Grand Place at 18:30? Don't want to walk there (even though only 15 minutes walk) and stand in the cold to be disappointed if I get the times wrong.HighInTheSky wrote:The event on the Grand Place itself is open for public, the meeting inside the Town Hall is on invitation only.

Re: Brussels Airlines to join Star Alliance in December
Very unusal for UA MP to award 50% only. WIth almost all airlines, they have 100% for most economy classes.Bralo20 wrote:Damn...
