BRU in 2006: what to expect: airlines, routes, news

Very nice what you are tellingAtlantis wrote:According to Vueling itselfs they will increase the number of the new flights from BRU to MAD in the next coming months.
Also important they will increase the total numbers of flights the next coming months: bcn, vlc and mad. BRU will be one of the most important airports on their network.
But maybe they should make some more advertising like they
do in Barcelona.

Hey Airbuske
Well, that sounds like a very good idea! I liked the advertisements of Vueling at BCN very much: the banners hanging on the fences!
But you know... advertisment costs money and probably it's quite expensive at Brussels... But hey, on the other hand, they can try to attract customers by advertising in the big Belgian cities: bus shelters, big posters, newspapers ...
I'm sure this will have a very positive effect on their pax numbers.
PS: We, students of Tourism- and Recreation Management have helped Vueling a little bit by writing several papers about them.

I don't think Etihad will be coming with an 777, that's too big a plane.
However, it could be that the route to Toronto will be spread out with direct flights ex AUH to YYZ (using A340) so that the flight to BRU would have much more seats for Belgian pax (now flight coming from YYZ is filled with low paying eco pax to Abu Dhabi, making it difficult for Belgians to obtain good fares and seats)

Looks like it as seen on this webpage: http://www.montenegro.com/en/Tivat.htmlDannyVDB wrote:Hi,
What's up in Tivat. Is this a tourist destination?
I have some serious questions about this year and the coming years about BRU.
We all know the problems at SNBA and Virgin and their very low 40% marketshare at BRU. If we compare, it's almost impossible but still, with Schiphol and the marketshare of 60 - 65% of Air France-KLM, then the picture is very clear.
But this hits also BIAC, a marketplayer with only 40% can not give huge pax numbers over a year. So, BIAC has to look, and they are looking at this moment, to attract more airlines to BRU. I'm wondering if they can bring this year Hainan and ANA to BRU.
This year BRU received more then 16.100.000 pax, but that number will not increase if they don't attract more players. If not, BRU will be doomed to the regional airport of Europe. I don't think that Macquarie Airports will be satisfy with that results. The only thing what matter is: profit, high pax numbers and high cargo volume.
At this moment only two new airlines will come to BRU: Air Wales and Skyeurope.
