The Middle-East market out of BRU is too weak. Royal Jordanian pulled out of BRU one and half year ago, and Syrian will stop serving BRU this month.
SNBA only flies to Tel-Aviv and even if they decide to increase their presence (which is very unlikely) in the region it will be with an A319s and certainly not with an A330s.
SNBA should indeed increase it's African presence with the 4th A330s.

A code-share with Etihad will only be on the BRU-Toronto sector.what about the code share with etihad?

The Canadian market is far more important out of BRU than the Abu-Dhabi market.Humberside wrote:Why not also on BRU-Abu Dhabi?
Moreover if SNBA would code-share with Etihad to AUH it would be for good connections to South-East Asia (like a BRU-AUH-HKG operated by Etihad and code-shared with SNBA). But unlike EK, Etihad doesn't offer enough connections to this region; EY only flies to BKK (and the main Asian target of SNBA for now is China).

So would a SNBA codeshare to Abu Dhabi be likely in the future when Ethiad improve connections?OrientThai wrote:The Canadian market is far more important out of BRU than the Abu-Dhabi market.Humberside wrote:Why not also on BRU-Abu Dhabi?

If SNBA reaches the code-share agreement with Etihad on the BRU-YYZ sector, if their co-operation succeed and yes if EY offers more connections (which will happen in the next years when they will get more aircrafts because now they are short of aircrafts to launch new routes) then we might see this new code-share.Humberside wrote:So would a SNBA codeshare to Abu Dhabi be likely in the future when Etihad improve connections?

I believe I saw both Cape Town and Jo'burg on the maps of possible new destinations to be served out of BRU (Le Soir, a few weeks ago).
And, as often discussed on these forums, we know there is a large Belgian community in SA and lots of people in Belgium wishing for a reliable direct airlink.
So hopefully that's still a possibility...
But would it be flown by SNba (might be difficult for their 333's), SAA or Nationwide? Can't think of anyone else operating a BRU-CPT or BRU-JNB non-stop... Unless it is a charter (TUI?) but I doubt they would be willing to repeat the Sobelair fiasco.
Might well just be wishful thinking though...

LOL Chris, that's the main problem: users of BRU can only regret the past or dream of some better future!
And spend (way too much) time on Thalys to CDG and feeder services to LHR and AMS to catch our intercontinental flights... *sigh*
I didn't read that those plans had been shelved (again!) but I'm not too surprised...
So what is left for this year? Toronto, Abu Dhabi and Beijing...
If those new services actually start in 2005...
Thanks for the info!
