What about the other 90% still in their base? They still have an unfair fiscal system.
Do you know what happens with the floating contracts , regarding fiscal system?

The reason why this is annoying is because there are people like you inventing stuff that is not true, which then other people who will read this as the truth. So many people here on this form claim they know the "truth" about Ryanair all from hear-say, which then turns out to be 50% lies, 25% half-truths and 25% that is actually correct
Because of all the base changing going on all over the network it seems that very few of the based pilots still have grandfather rights.
As for floating, I wouldn't be able to give you a definite answer as I am not sure. I would suspect that because they do not have a fixed base they pay everything in Ireland. That would seem most logical.

They do and, as such, they earn a lot more then those who are based for the same amount of hours (and they have more days off).

Everyone can go floating if they wish ... based pilots usually choose to earn a bit less for the comfort of not having to go to another base every week but instead have the ability to have a social life at their regular base.

Sean 1982, can you give some more info on this?
Do you mean that almost all pilots had their base changed and as such had to relocate families and housing?
Or are most of them free floating now?

There is much more than changing bases which makes you loose your grandfather rights.
eg: upgrades, becoming a trainer, changing your residence, unpaid leave,...
It is unbelievable how this forum is more and more like a bashing Ryanair, Brussels Airlines thing... I know everybody has is opinion and facts... But the hard/rude way these discussions are going, i find it sad! Normally i don't involve me in this topics but come on!
Quote of Descheermaecker:
"If Brussels Airlines is squeezed out by Ryanair and Ryanair does not offer flights to Africa, is that a reduction of traveloffers. Travelers then go to Paris or Frankfurt, which will eventually lead to a reduction of the economy in Belgium. You must carefully deal with this strategic. " (bing translate)
He has a point here... I don't like them coming either. In the long term this has a negative impact on the Airport!
But he diden't mentioned that Brussels Airlines has to work at there longhaul expansion. If you wan't to stay the big boy at your homebase. You have to grow... And this can not with 1 longhaul aircraft and destination a year!
Fingers crossed for LH....
Oh wow, it looks like they are already preparing the excuses to justify their demise.
If SN goes down, it will not be because of Ryanair, Turkish Airlines or Charleroi Airport.
It will be because of years of passive management and investments, we have been talking about this here since over 5 years now.
If someone were to offer me to take-over SN's African network with a new operation, I wouldn't think about it for a second although I would do it a bit differently than the current SN... well we all know my position.
So I'm sure that there would be other investors out there willing to do that as well.
JAF is interesed in FIH, so who knows, maybe they could be interested in the other destinations as well?
