And it goes on: another Lufthansa strike. On Wednesday, it covers short-haul and Germanwings.

This time, Brussels will be affected!

The Germanwings pilots clearly estimate that the mourning period for the crash of 4U-9525 is over...

Out of the 20 LH flights to/from BRU, only 2 will be operated to FRA and a single one to MUC

Out of 3000 daily LH flights, 1000 have been cancelled and 2000 will be operating.

Why do you think BRU is proportionally more affected?

Lufthansa said that, of 180,000 passengers booked for the day, 140,000 could not be carried on their scheduled flights.

The labour tribunal for the western state of Hesse granted the airline a temporary injunction against the pilots union, Vereinigung Cockpit, after hearing an urgent appeal following a lower court ruling in Frankfurt that had OK'd the strike late Tuesday.
The court said it had the impression that the union was seeking to have a say about Lufthansa's low-cost plans, which is not an objective that entitled it to strike under German law.

Perhaps because there are more alternatives for stranded passengers on BRU-FRA then for stranded passengers on, let's say, Rome-FRA? There is a good railway connection, even a touringcar transfer is possible, and some business passengers will simply drive to Münich or Frankfurt. It takes more time of course then a flight, but they can drive direct to their final destination in Germany.

The court may have stopped the strike, but all the LH flights to/from BRU which were cancelled remain cancelled.

And the two non-cancelled flights from FRA are operated by a small 737-500, whereas the sole MUC flight is on an E195...

And there is one airline taking advantage of the situation:

What appears to be certain is that there will be no air traffic from Finnish airports between the hours of 11 am and 1 pm on Friday (18th september 2015).

Finnair said that passengers should expect delays that could last into the weekend.

Getting to the airport could be difficult in itself as public transport, including local and long-distance buses, trams and possibly the Helsinki metro will effectively be shut down for the entire day starting at 11 am at latest. Local and long-distance trains will not operate between 6 am and 6 pm.

The unions are holding a national demonstration in Brussels on Wednesday 7 October as of 11 am. Traffic, including public transport, in and around Brussels may be severely disrupted. Passengers are advised to leave for the airport early to allow for traffic delays.

One of the rail unions called for a 24-hour strike as of 9 pm tonight. As rail services will be severely disrupted, Brussels Airport advises its passengers to come to the airport by bus, car or taxi. However, as the roads to the airport may be very busy, especially during rush hours, passengers should provide ample travel time to the airport.

We would also remind you that work is in progress on the Kiss & Fly area, which may cause further delays. Consider using car parks P1 or P2 which are directly accessible from the A201 access road to the airport.
