Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
About 40 Belgian pilots and cabin crew will loose their job in Brussels, because SN did not renew the Flybe contract yet. Not a Brussels Airlines decision, but one made in Frankfurt...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Do you mean Flybe employs Belgian crew? I never heard any of them speaking French or Dutch. Or even German...koninckske wrote: ↑09 Jun 2017, 20:33 About 40 Belgian pilots and cabin crew will loose their job in Brussels, because SN did not renew the Flybe contract yet. Since 2016 Belgian contracts, paying taxes in Belgium... All of the Brussels based crew speak Dutch and/or French. Many people from the old VLM have joined Flybe...
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
True, I also know a few people who were recruited by flybe for SN opskoninckske wrote: ↑10 Jun 2017, 09:04 Since 2016 Belgian contracts, paying taxes in Belgium... All of the Brussels based crew speak Dutch and/or French. Many people from the old VLM have joined Flybe...
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Not later than one month ago I flew a Flybe Q400 operating for SN to BLL and the crew spoke English and English only! Both way!
But even if there are Belgian crew based in Brussels, I guess they could follow the planes and relocate to England, Sweden or wherever they will be needed.

As far as I know, there is no Flybe crew "based" in Brussels and they don't have a Belgian contract, same apply for BMI, only City Jet has FR/NL/EN speaker crew with Belgian contract

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Indeed, I've heard a lot of Dutch speaking crews in the crew room, even seen an ex-sn ccm

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
sad to see them go, I love to fly turboprops
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
There certainly is a Brussels base for Flybe, and even a sort of base manager too they have a contract for a certain amount of time with the option to fly for Flybe UK once the SN contract is finished.
And most of them speak English or French but there are a few who speak dutch too

The question now is how those 2 Q400 will be replaced, A319? ERJ145? SSJ100?

Don't forget that CityJet has exercised options to purchase four CRJ900 aircraft from Canadian manufacturer Bombardier.
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
But don't you think that one of the reasons they want to get rid of those Q400 are maybe to harmonise the regional wet lease fleet? So it would be strange if they replace the Q400 by CRJ900?
If they go for the SSJ100 of cityjet, this would mean that there would be in total 5 SSJ100 leased from them?

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
How many Avro aircraft are still flying for SN? Registrations? I will fly on 20th June to Bologna, normally on SSJ but they have changed it for RJ100.
Many thanks.
