I went to the sandhill today, nothing illegal about that...
When I was walking from the watertower to the refugee centre I saw a dark Audi and four 4 wheel drives coming towards me. I continued and they asked me what I was doing there. I told them I was heading to the football club to take a picture of AF1. No problemo, as long as I didn't stand on the road along the runway or at the refugee centre it was ok.
Arrived just in time to see her takeoff... Hopefully I'll post a pic later...

Allow me to express my displeasure to all spotters who found it some kind of 'game' apparently to upload their pictures of AF1 as soon as possible to this site, even when they were taken from illegal spots.
You all should have to know better. Taking pictures is something you do for pleasure, not to be the first one to have your pictures online.
I hope that this won't have consequences for spotting at BRU in the future.
The idea of just putting as much pics of AF1 online, while you know that the spots you visit may offer a security risk, sickens me. Ever thought about the consequences for BIAC for example? How are they going to explain this to the US security?
@Brubiac: this message is not aimed at you, because you have a badge, and because your picture was taken from a place which is legal for you.

The fact to see AF1 might be exciting I agree, but all spotters should think about the future of spotting in EBBR, and the respect of that kind of "gentlemen agreement" we have with the BIAC inspection/Federal Police all the year round. I'm an addicted spotter, but I'm quite amazed/puzzled by this kind of silly race to "the scoop photo of AF1 in BRU".
I hope this won't have any bad effect/consequences of what should remain a HOBBY/PLEASURE.

Hello everyone!!!
First of all. (maybe it's just my computer) : Fly744 , i can't open you pictures...too bad...
it saids 'the selected album doesn't exist'
Than.....YIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIHHHHHHHHHHHAAA!!!!
Finally i saw him. I saw the whole group of escorting/backup planes too.
First of all here's my personal report of all the stages of G.W Bush's departure.
07:07....De-icing of Airforce One
07:35....Guards are waiting at Airforce One , Bush's arrival is being planned.
07:40....Police heli's are switching position
08:20....Police is making preparations together with fire men.
08:30....A Lufhtansa cityline CRJ-100LR due to land at RWY02 had to abort it's landing and did an 'overshoot'.
08:30....A newly landed CSA airlines B737-400. Has to wait on the tarmac prior to continue taxiing.
08:33...Police heli's starting to tour around the airport nervously.
08:35...A whole line of car's appears behind B-dock. I counted them and at the end there where over 50 security cars , police motorcycles (zwaantjes
),Military vans,Police cars and some armoured limousines.
08:38....The American Delegation including G.W Bush says goodbye to Brussels and are boarding. Wile Airforce Two (VC-32) is already waiting.
08:40...Engines of Airforce One are starting.
08:42...After a quick push-back he starts to taxi to the head of RWY07R at
pretty high speed for a taxi.
08:44...Airforce Two speeds up at RWY07R
08:45...Airforce One speeding up and lift-off.
08:46...A Police Heli show's above our heads.
So that whas a hell of a morning....VERY NICE...and that wasn't all. Guess what, when all the others were gone due to symptoms of freezing or had to go home/work , i could stay a wile longer. And i saw this (only the specials....the full log may follow later.)
The civil planes are based on some nice specials (or at least of what i find special because it's the first time i see them...or airlines who uses types which are kind a unusual at BRU) or some diverted planes.
Someone said Paris has been closed for a wile...wonder where all those Air France planes came from
:D
The whole day:
Military OR BUSH-VISIT-RELATED
07:05...United Airlines...B777-200Etops.....Take-off...RWY07R(US-press)
08:44....United States of America..VC-32...Take off...RWY07R (90004)
08:45....United States of America..VC-25...TO..07R...28000
09:55....Belgian Defence...A310-222...TO...07R....CA-01
10:16....Ukraïne Air Force...IL-62...TO...07R UR-85528 (???)
11:20....US Airforce.....C-17/III...LA...02....00176-Charleston(was standing at the sandhills)
12:28....US Airforce....C-5B...LA...02...9014..(Wooow...right over my head...BIG!!!!!!, I was damn lucky he flew over the sandhill first so i could speed my ass to RWY02.(i had my bike with me:) )
Those C-5's are REALLY NOISY!!!!!!!
The C-17 taxied to 'Abelag' and the C-5 parked at the Military apron for a wile to pick up some Military vans , closed the nose and taxied to 'Abelag' too, probably to pick up the 'Blackhawk'
Only too bad i have no cam , and no 'luchtzak members' took a picture of neither the C-17 and the C-5.)
Would have been very nice shots if i would had a cam today.
Hope the others spotters (about 7-8 at the sandhill) made some nice pictures of the take-off of Airforce One...i'm already waiting.
:):)
I hope everyone enjoys it that much as me or even more

Look to EBOS, all the sh :censored: caused by some ass :censored: spotters, who come only once a year to the airport. It started with some "small illegal" practices, but it ended with spotters putting up their tent beside the runway to pass the night!
So stop your sh :censored: , before the police stops the serious spotters!

Hello
Talking about illegal spotting...what i saw yesterday stands above all things said before...it couldn't be more illegal.
Guess what...I was spotting on top of the little sandhill at the runway head of RWY02 where they landed. And when I was there I saw two men standing at the other side of the landing lights. After a wile they started to walk next to the fences...all the way , until I couldn't see them anymore.
An half hour later...accidentally wile I was counting all rabbits at the airport field.
I saw those two guys standing there ...just in the middle of the field , behind all fences...free next to the runway...they must have climbed over it or maybe they buried under it?
But it sure was illegal....good for them they left that place an hour later without knowing of the Police...but it would have been very bad publicity for the spotters.
Another thing...about publicity. I received an e-mail from the TV1 program 'Man Bijt Hond' wich was making a report about Airforce One spotters...in their e-mail they asked me whetter I was prepared to coöperate with them for the report and even for an interview. Only too bad I only read this e-mail today.
Would have been the second time for me than
Best regards: Yannick
