Yes I know that Corendon isn't the best airline. :P But I think that we can't call this a bad thing, now we will probably have better flight hours to Antalya, Izmir and Bodrum. But they can improve their service for sure :p

Better flight hours?
Theoretically , but in reality it is like this:

http://www.ciao-shopping.nl/Reviews/Corendon__481568

http://www.turbulentie.nl/vliegervaring ... ndon.shtml

But again, it is good for jobs: rebooking people, catering for passengers who have to wait 3 extra hours, translators, ...

Yes you are right, I know that, but I suppose it's better than before. They fly already for a longer time between Antalya and BRU. With stationating an aircraft in BRU itself, I suppose it will be a bit better. Ok maybe not... :P
But it's not better with other Turkish charter airliners, so these extra flights are better than nothing.

Will this move actually increase the number of Corendon flights from BRU, or will the flight times simply change? How many weekly Corendon flights were there last summer season?

hm, I just realised that according to the bookingmachines available to me the flights between FRA and BRU will be reduced from 9 daily to 7 daily. The SN morning flight (SN2607/2608) will be discontinued without a replacement from LH and one of the evening flights (LH4584/4585) will be discontinued as well. Therefore the flight time is shortened ... All LH flights are now in the timetable with 55 minutes instead of 1h05 or so at the moment. Especially the SN morning flight from FRA wil be missed by many regular travellers on this route :(

This is one of the negative effects of the SN takeover by LH. The morning flight of SN to FRA is extremely popular (especially since LH and SN codeshare) and LH want that flight for theirself. Since they started codeshares with SN on the FRA flights. The LH flight with almost the same hours is mostly operated by a smaller aircraft that before the codeshare started. But the last time I checked the flights, there where still 8 dailly flights, I didn't know that they scrap an evening flight.

I agree. I regularly had German visitors using that flight and going back to FRA with the SN evening flight, because the timetable of the two SN flights was more convenient to them than the schedules of the 7 LH flights! It shows that LH might use the Swissair tactics of cannibalising the best parts of SN (Africa, routes beteween BRU and FRA/MUC, etc.) and getting rid of the rest.

Hm, they did not even took over the morning flight. The only morning flights from FRA seem now to be LH4570 (leaving FRA at 7h20) and LH4572 (leaving FRA at 9h35). I could not find any flight inbetween anymore (SN2608 left FRA at 8h15) ...
In the evening it was a bit crowded in the past indeed, so less of a problem here (LH regularly cancelled one of the originally four flights between 17h30 and 19h30 anyway). But the morning is a real pain

Well I hope LH will use larger equipment for the FRA flights. Because less flights and more codeshare agreements (so more pax) with SN... If LH stay using A319's and B737's (and no or less A320/A321's) it seems they want to achieve a 100% loadfactor on the route. :o
But I remember me that they have to give up some strategical slots on some routes when they took over SN, so maybe this is a result of that...? :?

That would make sense, as it is one morning and one evening slot, but only if it would be taken over by another airline (Air Berlin a realistic option? They have taken quite a number of slots from LH in FRA to ZRH, VIE, CPH and so on when LH took over other airlines or announced codeshare agreements)

Is easyJet to start even more routes out of Brussels? According to an article (in Dutch) on luchtvaartnieuws.nl, the airline wants to attract customers out of the Netherlands to airports in neighbouring countries.

Low cost airline easyJet thinks Schiphol is way too expensive and will open new destinations across the border to attack the Dutch airport. The British airline will start a big number of new destinations specifically aimed at Dutch travellers, to attract costumers to the airports of Brussels, Dusseldorf and Dortmund.

It could shed some light on the renewed BRU low cost plans...

It is clear that the management of Brussels Airport wants to develop low cost, the only growing segment of today's aviation business, notwithstanding all what its current customers may think.

I don't know what the situation was in the previous years (?), but Turkish ESB-BRU will go from 2 (Wed/Sun) to 3 (Wed/Fri/Sun) weekly flights...

Imho, BRU still has some potential left to grow in the long haul segment, if the key companies play their cards right (notably BRU and SN).

Now, the biggest boost BRU could get is when after SN, 9W would join Star Alliance as well. I know AI is on it's way to Star, but some time ago, someone at LH said the Indian market was big enough to have two Indian carriers, but that statements was done in better economic times...

Actually LH repeated that statement in December 2009. They said that they still believe in a Star Alliance with AI and 9W working together.

Sorry if this is already mentioned, but found this on airliners.net:

MEA will resume service to brussels in July 2010 with 3 flights per week:

ME215 BEY-bru 14:20-17:50 A320
ME216 bru-BEY 18:50-23:59 A320

This flight will most probably be another European summer seasonal service like SXF and CPH.
MEA is taking delivery of 2 A320 in May and June enabling the start of bru service and increased frequencies on most GCC flights.

Well yes it's been mentioned and awarded a topic of its own but I believe it finds its place under the title of this very thread as well. I might add that there is a strong push and word of mouth that the service will no be limited to the Summer season.

AirBaltic is going to increase their number of flights from Riga to BRU. As from summerseason 2010 they are going to fly two daily during weekdays and an additional flight on Sunday. Total number: 11

It will be a morning and eveningflight.
