So its a nice plan, but like other nice plans before it all remains to be seen.
Remember Vision 2040? And others.
I hope something will happen at BRU so we can enjoy European standards one day.
Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
Touwaide is a guy who was and is always against the airport. From his point of view, position, is very strange.JOVAN2 wrote: 18 Apr 2025, 18:46Only few hours after Faust press conference the Ombudsman Touwaide started his opposition

Second. From Vision 2040 a lot of parts are realized or being on the way. Brucargo was part of it and is fully realized like it was in the plans except some minor parts.
What is still on the way and was part of Vision 2040 is the new tramline.
But Vision 2040 was maybe a bit too far away from the date it was announced. Also don't forget that Covid came.
But the airport was never standing still. It's not bcs you don't see or don't hear anything that nothing is moving.
The parts which you saw today of the new departure, arrival, hotel, etc, we saw for the first time 2 years ago.
It simply takes time. But good that in 7 years we will have something new
Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
I am not so sure all this will happen..Don't forget the objections from neighbours and other groups..On another subject, nobody thought about our spotting community...Nothing foreseen......Where are the good times when terraces where here, and now more and more foreign airports are helping this hobby...Sad...
Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
I don't really see the problem here, we're talking about expanding the terminal, we're not talking about adding a runway or significantly increasing traffic etc....ZavCity wrote: 19 Apr 2025, 08:53 I am not so sure all this will happen..Don't forget the objections from neighbours and other groups..On another subject, nobody thought about our spotting community...Nothing foreseen......Where are the good times when terraces where here, and now more and more foreign airports are helping this hobby...Sad...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
Finally! Overall I'm very happy with it as it looks great!
A few questions for the 'insiders' (as it's not very clear in the press conference):
- will the current departures terminal (inside) be renovated as well? And how will it look?
- as arriving passengers will exit the baggage area in the new terminal (finally!), what will happen to the current arrival area?
- will the cramped baggage reclaim area be renovated/enlarged as well?
Let's hope all goes well with the permits and the attempts to object/sabotage from the usual suspects in the Brussels region will fail, so that they can start building asap.

The Brussels region is involved in the works, for example with the tram.

The new environmental permit include everything what they will construct now. It's on the airport area.lumumba wrote: 19 Apr 2025, 09:11I don't really see the problem here, we're talking about expanding the terminal, we're not talking about adding a runway or significantly increasing traffic etc....ZavCity wrote: 19 Apr 2025, 08:53 I am not so sure all this will happen..Don't forget the objections from neighbours and other groups..On another subject, nobody thought about our spotting community...Nothing foreseen......Where are the good times when terraces where here, and now more and more foreign airports are helping this hobby...Sad...
So, this is nothing new. It's not that they will grow to 40 million pax a year.
This is to renew existing facilities + an expansion with a new office building, new hotel, intermodal transportation and better departure and arrival.
Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
The current departure terminal will be renovated too. There will be new check in area.Boavida wrote: 19 Apr 2025, 09:47 Finally! Overall I'm very happy with it as it looks great!![]()

When pax will arrive after the baggage reclaim, the will enter in the whole new build expansion of the terminal.
As I have said before, the Diamant will be demolished and here will be this large new area.

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
I don't mean the Brussels region itself, but people inside the Brussels region (as most opposition towards the airport comes from within the Brussels region). The municipality of Woluwe-St-Lambert has already complained...lumumba wrote: 19 Apr 2025, 10:26I think the Brussels region here has nothing to do with it!Boavida wrote: 19 Apr 2025, 09:47

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
To give you more detail about the current departure terminal. As I have said, since a year or so, the current facade/front will be put forward. Now, as it is released, I can tell you more. The current square between the terminal and the Sheraton will be in the new departure terminal. This means that the terminal will become much larger with also more light and the new check in facilities.Boavida wrote: 19 Apr 2025, 09:47 Finally! Unfortunately this is something which they didn't showed in the presentation. But this is also included in it.

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
No, this was the main publication. But as we know, in this project is also a new parking for the long distance couches, new taxi area, tram and the new drop off zone. As a matter of fact everything what is needed now is in one big project.Conti764 wrote: 20 Apr 2025, 22:38Are they going to publish more about this project?Atlantis wrote: 20 Apr 2025, 18:07To give you more detail about the current departure terminal. A lot of elements where also included in the Vision 2040.
Also don't forget that the B-pier is receiving new air bridges.
All for pax, all for pax experience
Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
Thats great news. I found the airport alreaady really ok (the piers + connector), just the "outside" infrastructure + departure hall is outdated but this will be finally taken care of. I understand the project that has been announced does not include Pier A West. Has this project now been terminanted or is there any perspective for it? Alternatively maybe the satellite could be used as pier C.
Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future
A pier West is not in it. It's even not in the renewed environmental permit.Polish24 wrote: 21 Apr 2025, 13:46 Thats great news. The satellite is now used by the police till they will move to their new build building.
If they would decide to use the Satellite again they can do it for the leisure flights as I mention some time ago. They check in in their dedicated leisure terminal and from there is not too far to the satellite. On this way you can separate a bit the pax flow from pure leisure and business.
