OO-SFT is MSN291 (HB-IQI; Edelweiss)
-
Airbus A330

Thanks for the identification.DeltaWiskey wrote:OO-SFT is MSN291 (HB-IQI; Edelweiss)
So, SN changed its plans from a newer 333 for a older 332.
Could it be a hint the new long haul routes on study don't require the performances of these young 333s to be operated sucessfully (so any hot & high destination where cargo is immediately important)
Or this next 333 is still planned but delayed?

- HB-IQI will be a short-term lease, available after leisure high-season, enabling SN to start their new destination(s). Furthermore, HB-IQI has Pratt&Whitney engines.
- Then LH announces their take-over of SN
- When SN is fully incorporated in LH, HB-IQI will go back to Edelweiss (like March 2017) and will be replaced by another Airbus A330 from the LH group with Rolls Royce engines (as OO-SFX has).
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
I flew 3 times with this old one Airbus ZRH HAV...and as passenger I never saw it was an old aircraft. I could have said "Sir" hat the plane was new.Airbus A330 wrote:Thanks for the identification.DeltaWiskey wrote:OO-SFT is MSN291 (HB-IQI; Edelweiss)

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Maybe a little far-fetched, but why not; it does make sense. But probably no refurbishing in that case.skumfiduse wrote:Here are my thoughts:Airbus A330 wrote:Thanks for the identification.DeltaWiskey wrote:OO-SFT is MSN291 (HB-IQI; Edelweiss)

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
A quite anticipated but big Welcome to this long awaited 10th long-haul aircraft joining the brussels Airlines fleet!
I was also thinking about an Airbus A330-300 but anyway, let's trust the SN fleet ops for taking the best décisions regarding the future operations!

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
We were having lunch while OO-SSS was on approach for 25R, and made a go-around, to rejoin final 25L a few minutes later. Quite a nice view
I presume this was for testing purposes?

In a facebook group there was said indeed that the SSS did a RAT-test during landing. I live near the airport and heard the plane twice coming around with an unusual sound following the RAT-test.KriVa wrote:We were having lunch while OO-SSS was on approach for 25R, and made a go-around, to rejoin final 25L a few minutes later. Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
They sure keep adding more of these planes and ever more capacity!
How many Airbusses do they operate now already? It must be getting a big fleet by now.
Last time I flew from BRU the entire terminal facing the runway was taken by airbus planes from them. Quite a sight.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
20 A319's and 9 A320's as far as I know (with at least one more A319 coming this year I believe?). Add to that the 9 (10 by the end of this year) A330's and you indeed get a reasonable sized Airbus fleet, especially compared to the Avro-dominated fleet of not that many years ago.Inquirer wrote:They sure keep adding more of these planes and ever more capacity!

It sure is quite impressing arriving at rush hour and seeing the row of SN's Airbuses lined up at the A-terminalInquirer wrote:They sure keep adding more of these planes and ever more capacity!

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Wouldn't the addition of 3 or 4 A321 to their fleet be interesting for the busiest European routes?
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
that would maybe a great addition ... they could add some A321's like BA has with a dedicated business class section
