Re: Why Orval ?
And I repeat, as some do not seem to understand, that out of date beer is vile and not worth drinking. If out of date Sloeber tastes like in date Orval, then I dread to think how out of date Orval tastes.sn26567 wrote:I repeat (some people do not seem to understand):

We had Oud Zottegems Bier on Saturday, directly imported from Belgium in March. Quite a nice beer, with a burnt toffee aftertaste and over 6% ABV. It was a copper colour, not dissimilar to Kwak as far as colour goes.
Now 33 and 35 days to go
:drink:

Last night we had a new beer - Artois Bock, which has been resurrected after not being brewed since the 1950s. It is brewed in Belgium or we wouldn't have bought it. It was similar to De Koninck or Palm or that kind of thing. It is 6.2% ABV and is nice.

No beer for me tomorrow, I'm stuck with going to a stupid wedding which I would rather not have gone to and it would be much nicer to chill out at home with a nice glass of Augustijn Grand Cru than to be stuck on a train from Wakefield to York to Scarborough. The Augustijn Grand Cru will have to wait until next week and then the week after that I can have some of my beloved.

That sounds an interesting beer, will be great to see a photo. On the wedding day last Saturday I had a Staropramen and a Carlsberg Export. Last night I had Augustijn Grand Cru. I don't know yet what I'll have on Wednesday, but I certainly know what I'm having next Saturday, and I cannot wait! :drink:  :mexwave:  :lickout:  :jumpy:

Here is a movie about a guy trying to drink 10 Duvels in 1 hour. As a reminder Duvel has an alcohol-percentage of 8%.

After 7 Duvels he was hospitalised....

I have been invited to write a food and drink column on an internet site, so I'm very pleased about that

We acquired four bottles of Sloeber today, and also some American brews. The American brews certainly sound nice, and we had Sierra Nevada Pale Ale tonight, which was very good.

Great news about the Christmas beers, this year we will manage to get those impossible-to-find-at-home brews. I've never had Gordon's Christmas and have had Bush Noel once. That's how hard they are to find here!
The Sierra Nevada was nice.
Tonight we are having Judas.
