You are right Knight255. I think we all know that it is not possible to fall asleep while you should pay attention.

Normally.... I think there should be 2 controllers.... So they keep each other awake! Or at least one of the 2 is keeping attention.

And yes... this controller should be punished. He should know his responsibilities! but just the fact that he was alone.... very strange...
Thats why I asked this question.

To your mind, who is the most responsible:

The one who was alone at work and fells asleep (at night with low traffic), or the second one who wasn't at his job when the police cames ? (perhaps he stayed at home instead of working??)

In my opinion the controller MUST be fired.

Yes but perhaps some other people should get fired as well.

Hi Guys,

Do we know all the facts ? Maybe teh Russians arrived well in advance of the Arrival time. It happens, if you plan to arrive at an airport at ie 5am, the Tower staff may not come on duty until 30-45 mins before. So if you have an airport slot at a fully coordinated airport you should not arrive too much before it. Maybe the Russians departed early and arrived even earlier............

It couldn't happen in BRU as it's a 24/7 airport with alot of movements at night, but go to another airport wher they don't normally have night mvts and ......

just my €0.02 worth,

Rgds
Tony
