Connections on Pulkovo Aviation???

Now, I don't want to judge this Russian airline, but would it be wise for a full service airline like SN to offer connections on an airline like that?

What I have never understood is why SN does not code share with AY on its routes to the Far East? I mean, any route from BRU to let's say Japan or any country in that region practically passes over HEL anyhow so it wound't be much of a detour, there are 6 daily flights between BRU and HEL thus offering perfect connection possibilities, SN and AY have an EXCELLENT partnership already on many routes beyond BRU (Southern European SN destinations) and HEL (baltic region) and their FFPs are well connected. in short: it would make perfect sense, wouldn't it?

Traffic right wise, that would only be a BRU-DXB....

As far as I remember they did last year, but it didn't work out so the coöperation stopped...

it means that the airline has slots at their disposal, or filed a request to buy or sell bru slots.
slots are not always used to maintain or start-up operations.
or they expire, or they are used for strategic purposes, or they are sold to a third party.

Looks indeed very bad for connections between BRU and the Far East. Any other ideas in the pipeline ?

Doesn't look very good, even Tokyo , is not in the pipeline. If one Asian city should be served from BRU it must be Tokyo! It is a capital city for asia

Already a lot of carriers go to TYO. Competition would be very though. OSA and NGO might be good alternatives. Unfortunately SNBA is too small and the financial risk too high to start a regular schedule by itself. Anyhow SNBA will need a code share partner between Japan and BRU which should be JAL or ANA.

SN saw most foreign carriers as a threat (and acted likewise), at least SNBA is willing to see them as an opportunity. And contrary to SN they don't act as if BRU is their OWN airport, as you suggest.

Yes but Sabena as world renowned home carrier was putting BRU on the world's map AND attracting other carriers at the same time. Because what we are witnessing so unfortunately again is the difficulty to sell a hub when no major home carrier is based in it.
That's why I say with all believers in a possible change: "SNBA WAKE UP !!"

AA will add another European destination from their MIA's hub this winter and BRU has big chances to be the winner.
SNBA is in talks to add another A330s and if the talks succeed the aircraft will start flying in September, enabling SN to open new African destinations (rumoured cities are Cotonou, Lagos and Lomé)
And don't forget HU, which might come this summer.

The first flight of Hainan to Brussels is posponed for some time. Reason: the Flemisch Government has to negotiate with Brussels about the "sound-question". It's not easy to explain to foreign pilots that there is a big difference between the soundlimit at Zaventem and above Brussels there are again other soundlimits.
So, the whole project is now in the freeze, and I think for a long time.

So, to all who has complains at Kraainem, Wezembeek, Sterrebeek, Tervuren, congratulations again. So we missed again a new flight.
