Hello
'Fabke' ...well...you do have a point.
I see a lot of discussing about points where i'm worrying myself about too.
Like...runway,police,time....
But my guess....i repeat a GUESS....(only a guess , not more , not less) is that he'll arrive not earlier than 16:00h so between 16:00-18:00h i guess , and ellsworth around 20:00h i think. But i hope he's early. I wouldn't even mind that he would be one day too early , since i will be spotting Saturday too...ofcourse i hope it not for the other spotters...(but i wouldn't mind).
And about security....well if the wind continues doing like this (Norhtern/Eastern-winds) it will be RWY 02 , unless USAF1 takes the risk to try to land at RWY25R. And around RWY02 you can difficultly put police control...it's in the open fields...it's at the railway and that's a public place...by the way ,, they aren't allowed to hunt you further away than the railroad-track so....no problem if he lands at RWY02, wich i really hope.
Now just waiting and hope that it stays dry.
Best regards: Yannick

Come on, don't be so naive...
Aircraft have been shot down before. Remember the DHL A300 ? The Arkia B757 in Nairobi ? Or the Falcon 50 of President Habyarimana shot down in Rwanda 10 years ago ? Do you really think those lunatics got the idea on the internet ?
About two years ago I found myself and a few friends close to the runways of BRU (landings on RWY 02). There was an EU summit in Brussels that day so we saw many state aircraft carrying Aznar, Chirac and Blair. For us it was totally unexpected, we really didn't know what we would see, but we were never worried by security. We saw a few police cars on the other side of the fence, they saw us, but that was it. Noone came to ask us what we were doing there. We didn't carry cameras, I guess that helps.
I guess it will be a totally different story for Bush, but why don't you get in touch with BIAC and ask them what you can do and what you can't do that day ? Friendly spotters are also good allies for security staff. It's always good to have extra pairs of eyes watching the field.

Hello
TCAS_climb
As you said in your reply i already sended an e-mail to BIAC Monday and received my answer at Thuesday. As i had already expected they weren't able to give ANY information...(kind a logical) ....for the rest i asked what were the spotting abilities that day...well they just told us to follow safety instructions and especially not to try to do those things that aren't aloud.
So i don't know much more about it now...i sure know one thing...they can't keep us away miles from the airport , there are thousands of possible places where you can spot him...so the security will NEVER be a problem for me...ONLY TIME best fellow spotters TIME...it's always a matter of TIME that causes the troubles...as i mostly arrive by train and have to watch time to have a train back homeworhts (there are not a lot of trains...believe me....), so i think i know what i'm talking about.
And as proposed before in the other topic about 'Airforce One' ...21:00GMT time ARRIVAL , that makes it is 20:00h here , that's WAY TOO LATE TO SPOT HIM , OR TO PHOTOGRAPH HIM...so if it's going to be like that...forget it...put it out of your mind than...that's my big worry.
I'm just afraid for that...waiting desperately; Yannick

To take away all confusion; Bush will NOT arrive BEFORE 20h local time sunday and depart NOT LATER than 10h local time 23/02. How I know that? Because for the unbelievably stupid American security the whole Belgian airspace will be restructured, there"s been a NOTAM (notice to airmen) about it, here it is. BTW, I have never seen this before and I think it is so ridiculous.

Hello
Bottie
that must be a 'I'-part I always forget...i mean i do use the spellcheck but every time he says that the 'i' is wrong i'm questioning why? And than I press 'ignore' so thanks for reminding me to that , so i can press 'correct' in 'I' this time.
I want be there for 99,99% sure when AF1 arrives because it will be dark so. Fun spotting him maybe.
Best regards: Yannick

Jup, I was there too. VC32 99-0004 and VC25 82-8000 arrived right on time. What an awesome plane!
We had a nice view at 25L of what was going on. 3 helicopters were on surveillance, 2 above the airport, 1 at the runway waiting for AF1 to come in.
Only 2 thing could have been better: the weather (frrreezing :-s) and full batteries (so that I could have made a trial shot). Well, I'll try tomorrow from the sand hill.

Hello
So if I understand it correctly there where this planes.
3-choppers
-the VC-32
2x VC-25????? (both AF1's???)
-777????
If that's true...WOW! But AF1 on it's own is already WOW!
The thing is, it wasn't daylight, but yet there are some nice pictures...it gives them a 'special effect'. But it might be more difficult to see it during landing, I can imagine myself that.
Best regards: Yannick
