Re: BRU: environmental permit annulled

Post by Conti764 »

Heard it on the news... Focused around SN and BAC's complaint, but nothing heard about other complaints.

SN's and BAC's objections are about expansions at BRU, but some (most) of the others are about limiting growth. I am actually more curious about these...

One of the other ones was the BBL, bond beter leefmilieu. They wanted to have no nightflights at all and less annual flights.

But those ones were not agreed by the council. The council agreed with SN and BRU bcs the environmental permit was too drastic. They had to implement first actions to spread the flights more during the day. This was not in the permit and that's why it was not in rule with the European agreement.

The flemish government need to do their homework again but they have now 4 years. During 4 years a lot can be done already to have a softer permit which is more realistic.

The same we see for Schiphol. The current permit was also not following the European agreement.

But yeah, from politicians you can expect everything
There are more airports worldwide that mix to cities, only to name a few:
DFW: Dallas/Forth Worth
LBA: Leeds/Bradford
BSL: BASEL/Mulhouse
Of course you wouldn’t change the 3-letter code
The three airports have one thing in common. The two cities in their name have invested. How much is Antwerp bringing in?

I hope that A Pier West will come in the new permit and the sound wall around the airport
