strange indeed! :?

we started off talking about me (i'm cool 8) ), then we moved on to football (belgium aren't as good as england  - but england aren't any good either :( ), then scarborough (decent town in north england) and now booze (belgian beer that i don't think i have tasted).

nice to know we have a diverse range of members here! i don't think i've tasted belgian beer so i can't comment.

but i will remember Sloeber - i'll try that sometime

Chouffe and Westmalle (both Dubbel and Tripel) are unobtainable in this dump.
But Sloeber is? It is even unobtainable in most Belgian places: not really the sign of a quality brand!

Agree, Rago. Which one do you prefer? Blond or Amber? Mine is Amber, 12°, the strongest belgian beer in the market!

Westvleteren is not always the easiest beer to get, are you saying that is not a quality beer?

I cannot agree about Scarborough being a decent town, but you would have to spend the whole year here, and see it at its worst - dross spewing on street corners in the early afternoon, yobs roaming through the main shopping street yelling, gang warfare on the seafront, foreign students getting their heads kicked in, once-nice streets turned into no-go areas by the increase of DSS hostels (dosshouses), proper shops closing down and being replaced by everything under 50P shops, more mobile phone shops per head of population than any other town in the northern hemisphere, buses which stop at 6pm and don't run at all on Sunday, trains stranded for six hours 100 metres from the station because there is no one to fix them, pubs you cannot go in without being deafened by karaoke, live comedians or live singers....

I am not the best advert for the Yorkshire coast. If you want to see a really nice coastal town, with its own airprot, go to Oostende. It beats the sh*t out of Scarborough.

There's really nothing wrong with Sloeber (just let it :drink: , but it's only a "local" beer, it's difficult to put a "national" label on it's bottle. It's not that easy to find it all over the country.

That is a very personal and unique opinion. :?

What about Chimay Blue, Tripel Westmalle, Chouffe, Rochefort 10, Triple Karmeliet, Ciney, Brune des Fagnes, Duvel, and many others? :P
Your taste in beer is very bad!

You can't discuss about taste Comet! That's something personal. What's good taste or bad taste? There's not really a definition, but one thing is sure... the BELGIAN beers are on top!!!

i've never tasted belgian beer so i can't comment :(

hmmmmm shall i attempt to change the subject or do we wanna continue with booze?! let me think :? no, booze is fine, continue as you like.

we can talk about chocolate, belgian chocolate is nice. also tintin - i still watch it when it comes on tv. also van damme, decent actor but brilliant kickboxer.

CN-RAM,

Sorry that your introductory presentation has been changed to a discussion about Belgian beer. But that's how it goes here...

Well why don't you start an ongoing sticky discussion thread about beer in the Luchtzak Pub, and then it would never happen would it?

Should I stick to beer, or should I welcome CN-RAM :?:

:D Welcome to luchtzak! As I see from this topic you already have seen how things work here. We start on one topic and end in the opposite direction. :D

As for Sloeber, I have never had the cnache to cross a bottle with that name, but I'll certainly keep my eyes open.

ciao,

If you object so much to beer being mentioned on here Andre, why don't you make a rule banning any reference to it in future, or as I said, start up a special ongoing thread where people can post things about beer in peace without bringing other things :offtopic: :?:

it's no problem, it's quite funny seeing adults argue about beer!

CN-RAM - you are right, I love Belgian things, and Belgium is my favourite holiday destination and I would give anything to be able to live over there (get away from this place with its legalised discrimination against anyone over 25 who is unfortunate enough to be unemployed  )

And that quote above is the comment which inspired the beer topic over in the Luchtzak Pub, I am sorry if anyone wrongly thought I was complaining about them, but certain people seem to have a downer on whatever I write - if I put a joke thread on it gets locked, or complained about (the harmless Broad Yorkshire thread I once put on which offended no one but certain people decided to object to it.)

and what is stopping you moving over to belgium? it's closer than you think. and what does it take to intergrate and start being active there - learning a language?

and i'm sure belgium has just the same problems as anywhere else on earth - i'm moroccan - ask fellow belgians in this community what impression they have of moroccans in belgium and holland.

i think maybe you should start looking closer at yourself before putting others down. life is what you make it.
