I read in the "flug Revue" that the architecture is from the 30s, designed by "the Third Reich".
Thanks for your answer B744skipper.

The terminal building indeed has a Third Reich feel to it - architecturally speaking. I found the tall vertical windows on either side very impressive. Truly a great place!

And what about the SN press release saying they had booked space at Tegel and would move by 1 November?
Not yet a pressrelease, but more confirmation at this topic at A.net ( http://www.airliners.net/discussions/ge ... n/1787700/ )

Travel agents seem to have been notified that SNBA would keep flying to Tempelhof.

Greets,

Pieter

Berlin Tegel has been quietly removed from the SN booking engine and timetable in their website.

Of course, it would not make a good effect to annouce it publicly, when the transfer to Tegel was trumpeted loudly!

what will be the result of this lack of decision making? Development of Tegel could stay behind on shedule. Maintenace of Tempelhof could deteriorate. Connections to the inner city , trade fairs, public transport come into doubt. Tempelhof to stay open, great. But what about the whole picture?

The main frame of the picture is the construction af a brand new airport called Berlin Brandenburg International at Schönefeld. This is the top priority for the Government and the city of Berlin. For the rest, don't worry, Germans are pragmatical people and they will not let the situation at existing airports deteriorate.

You are right about that one, because in a report on "stern tv" over Berlin-Tempelhof, they told that only 30% of the building is occupied, but they are also maintaining the none used parts of the building.

But I wonder where the funds for the Berlin-Brandenburg-Airport will come from. About a jear ago the Berlin Goverment still had 35 miljard euro's debt. :shakehead:

Thanks, Chris.

Am I correct to say that the publication of the information in Luchtzak triggered the writing of a press release?

Well, I was not correct! I received a nice message from SN Brussels Airlines assuring me that the press release was ready since September and that they had to wait for a lawyers' authorisation before publishing it.

SN Brussels Airlines' Communications Department is not sleeping. Nor is Luchtzak!
