OO-SFM now landing 25R, over OM at 15:50.
More than 4 hours after take off, .. from 25L.
All is well that ends well.

Yes...next departure for flight 255 at 7PM...today !ryandaughter wrote: ↑17 Apr 2017, 15:25 Still holding for now. I noticed that OO-SFU has been carried from hangar to the airport...maybe to be prepared to take over SN255 once OO-SFM is back to BRU...we ll see what happen.

Why so late? They've had 4 hours to prepare the replacement aircraft!nordikcam wrote: ↑17 Apr 2017, 16:07Yes...next departure for flight 255 at 7PM...today !ryandaughter wrote: ↑17 Apr 2017, 15:25 Still holding for now. Good that SFM is safely back though.

I hope they were served their lunch.

Ouch, good pick Convair.
I'm ashamed.
Using the reciprocal QFU, how can I do such a mistake !?
But I seem to remember that when I wrote this I was young and had drunk.

The potential replacement aircraft landed this morning at BRU. It is likely under maintenance at the moment. The replacement aircraft could be SFM itself then.convair wrote: ↑17 Apr 2017, 16:17Why so late? OO-SFU took off a few minutes ago. As said above, it's been waiting on the apron or at a gate since 3:25 pm.
So, again, what took so long?
Re: Abnormalities in BRU-ANR-CRL-LGG-OST in 2017
Call back a new crew
Transfer cargo
Put out all luggages from SFM- control -
Prepare the plane (catering...), obtain all authorizations and plan the flight...
For long haul, it take easely 3-4 hours!

Maybe SFU wasn't ready for a quicker departure as this bird was the back up aircraft of the day. In that context, preventive maintenance was maybe ongoing and couldn't be interupted earlier.convair wrote: ↑17 Apr 2017, 19:59OO-SFU took off a few minutes ago. Also, the crew of SFM was probably time out for a new departure in SFU. Find a complete back up crew is not that easy.
And there are many other possibilities that can explain why it has been done this way. Operational management is an art.

I am too late to listen...nobody of the enthousiasts here has an airband scanner ? At the company freq you would have been able to listen to the cause in stead of guessing...

Re: Abnormalities in BRU-ANR-CRL-LGG-OST in 2017
I have one, and use it occasionally (legally!). But what is the company frequency?
Don't pilots communicate with their ops offices via ACARS, these days, rather than over VHF?
Re: Brussels Airlines OO-SFM to Ougadougou holding above Belgium
131.950 - no acars, at such close distance VHF voice is the most easy way of comm, even when transatlantic most pilots still prefer good old HF in stead of CPDLC wich is not reliable at all times. At longhaul flights, technical issues are discussed over satcom, most SN330 s have satcom telephone in cockpit enabling communications with ops.

Only read this thread now. So too late to give any current comments on the situation, so just for info since the issue was raised.
The fuel dumping capabilities of an A330...
For the A333 it is no option. Just simply not installed. It does have the dummy dumping pipe coming out of one of the flaptrack fairings either side, but it is just closed at the back. As for the A332, it is an option you could have installed. Though not mandatory. But its extra fuel capacity can make it more attractive to dump rather than to burn off fuel. Having said that though, none of the SN A332 are fitted with the system.
